Language school Don Quijote Madrid

I really enjoyed my week here - although I was nervous on arrival. The classes were well organised and the initial language test really identified my level of Spanish and my aim. Marisa especially is a great motivator whilst still being fun to learn with. I also had 5 hours conversation with Elisa - she subtly led the conversation and I gained so much confidence.

My husband and I have taken classes at Academy don Quijote on 4 separate occasions, 4 weeks at a time. I cannot express to you how amazing the people and process are at this school. I want to describe a wee bit about their process. So, each week is sequenced and when start, they get you in a class as close to your level as possible, so it could be a High A2 or a low b1, or a middle A1. The professors have set goals through the weeks, although I have noticed that if no one is leaving in a particular week, they may go faster or slower to accommodate the class. The professors also allow for the class to veer off topic. You have to remember, if you are speaking Spanish, you are learning Spanish. For me, I have taken details notes in every class and in the corner of each page of notes is a list of vocabulary words that I learned that day. VERY helpful.

Their grammar lessons are excellent as well. I just finished a 4-week stint with them, and we focused on the Subjunctive. it's hard, but we learned about the subjunctive while discussing lots of different topics, in addition to reviewing grammar rules.

I want to highlight some of the professors for you too--

Virginia- she is wonderful, she is intense; keeps the class moving quickly forward while ensuring no one is left behind.

Alberto, I was lucky enough to have him for two different classes, A2 and B1, he is an avid reader and has so much additional knowledge that he brings to the table. He is a natural born teacher and can break things down into bite size pieces for you.

Sergio- he adds a competitive piece to the learning. He had us conjugating verbs on the white board in a race. VERY fun. he also challenges you to question yourself, rather than just correcting you.

Alesandra- she is Peruvian and brings an elegance to the classroom, she teaches Castillano but gives you the color of another country's dialect of Spanish. We had a long talk about what it means to be polite in Spanish. VERY helpful.

Elisa, so much fun, she brings her whole self to the classroom, and I live for it. She can also break down the grammar rules in a way to assist in learning, comprehension and application. Ask her how many languages she speaks.

Eva- i was lucky enough to have Eva for the past two weeks. She has a warm and caring passion for teaching. I feel like she truly enjoys teaching, more subjunctive work, which is highly confusing, but we worked so much on trigger words for desires, hypothizes and subject changes that it clicks on when to use the subjunctive.

If you are looking for a school to take lessons at. this is the one.

I was assisted from the very beginning by Course counsellor Pérola Oliveira, who welcomed me warmly, was very attentive, and answered all my questions. I hope we have new opportunities to connect, and I will definitely visit the school soon.

I am so looking forward to studying at Don Quijote! So far, Tatiana and the team have been super attentive and helpful. The program looks so interesting.

I will start school this Monday, but Anas has been helping me with everything throughout the preparation process. He responded to all my concerns and answered every question. He’s been very kind and understanding. That’s why my first impression of the institution is quite positive — they’ve already made me feel comfortable. I really appreciate it.

I’m an American, I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish. Finally getting my chance to spend time in a classroom, and I’m finding my class to be interesting, fun, and very helpful. We spend a lot of time just talking, in addition to more structured lessons. It’s great to get to learn Spanish with a diverse group of students of many ages from all over the world.

Outstanding experience. I’m an old man with several years of Spanish language lessons…but fifty years ago. DQI recognized my situation, accepted me into a program, set me up with a very talented instructor (thanks, Sergio, you were great!) and didn’t overcharge me. The staff was solicitous, the bureaucracy was minimal, the price was fair, the venue was very well-appointed…nothing negative to report. I plan on returning for more time in Madrid and I’ll be signing up for a little more one-on-one “re-learning.” Truly a fine experience.

I studied at Don Quijote for 6 weeks and I had such a great experience. All the professors were so kind and supportive, they really take the time to help us improve our Spanish.

I had the pleasure of being taught for 6 weeks by Marisa and Dalia. Both have a zest for life that translates into their passion for teaching. I love to learn, but Spanish can be challenging and at times I felt myself getting frustrated, however their passion pushed me to want to do better. I always felt comfortable asking questions, and they make a point to get to know you as a person. I’ve absolutely loved my time here!!!

I studied here for 6 weeks. It was an amazing experience. The professors and the staff was amazing. I felt like my Spanish improved a lot within such a sort period of time.

Execellent language school in a great location in Madrid. Teachers are amazing and committed, and there are many options for short term visitors and residents learning Spanish. Very happy with my time here!

I am an older student who came to Don Quijote for 12 hours of private lessons. Both my teachers were excellent. The facilities here are fine. The location is fine. The prices seem fair. They gave me a test before that helped identify errors. I recommend this school. I cannot evaluate classes because I had private tutors.

I'm amazed by this incredible school, I came here this year barely knowing any Spanish and within some months I have been able to go up to a B2 in my Spanish level. Besides that, I met a lot of people from all around the world. The teachers were also amazing, it surprised me how engaged they are with us and willing to help with anything. My residence was also great, located just 5 minutes away from school with very nice accommodations. So not only it's a school, it's a place that made me feel at home.

At don Quijote is where I started learning Spanish and I can highly recommend their intensive courses to build a base quickly. The school in Madrid is very close to the Plaza de España and to metro stations. Some nice cafes in the area to have coffee after the lessons and do the homework. Highly recommended!

It's a good experience with the teachers and private classes along with the many activities and opportunities to practice Spanish to better equip yourself for the outside environment. It was comfortable and I loved the immersive experience. If you're looking to learn Spanish in Spain, it's a great choice.

It's well organised. I have classes at level C1. First part in the morning is grammar, second part culture. In between we discuss and talk a lot, learning Spanish by using it al the time.

After that I have an hour conversation class in which we talk about different topics.

Don Quijote is a great language school. The teachers are very welcoming and are able to answer all of my questions. They are truly great and care about their student.

Premium education, I loved the clases in don quijote ! Small groups in my class we where 3 helpful staff and teachers very personalice and top service and clases . I loved my host family who help me learn spanish wile I enjoyed Madrid

It has been a wonderful experience, where I have learned a lot of Spanish, and where I have been impressed by the quality of service and teaching at this school. An international environment with a very exclusive treatment in very small classes. In mine there were three students and where I not only learned the language, but also the culture. My accommodation was in a shared apartment with an Italian and a Frenchman who lived with two Spaniards and we loved it. The experience was only five minutes from the school. I am very happy to have chosen Don Quijote for my experience this summer.

The teachers are excellent. The classes are fun since the students have diverse backgrounds with all ages. It’s situated centrally. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay of 6 weeks at DonQuijote! So much that I decided to come back after 3 weeks and continue for 2 and a half months more.

If I were only reviewing the classes, I’d give five stars without a doubt. The teachers are amazing and despite only being here for two weeks, I feel like I learned a lot!

With regards to accommodation, I booked a single room in a shared apartment offered by the Academy, and I’m not sure I would do that again if I were to return to the academy. The apartment had a lot of defects, and it was also much more expensive than other (long-term) accommodation options in Madrid. I strongly believe that there’s cheaper options of better quality out there, especially if you’re staying for a longer period (1 month +).

All in all, I’d like to highlight that I highly recommend taking classes at Don Quijote, no matter whether you can only stay for a week or for months!

Absolutely enjoyed a three week Spanish course at Don Quijote in Madrid. Fun and skilled teachers and a whole diversity of students. Based on this experience, I’d definitely go back to a Don Quijote school in the future.

The school was amazing! The teachers were very kind and supportive. I really feel like I have improved by Spanish writing, reading and speaking skills significantly. A must do experience if you want to improve your Spanish!

I went to Don Quijote with 11 friends from school and two teachers of mine. Our Spanish teacher was there with us too. We were there for a week and attended lessons for five days. It was a really fun and educating experience. The teachers at Don Quijote were really good ones, if we couldn’t understand something they made sure to make it clearer. Also in speaking lessons we have met with people from other countries such as Netherlands, Italy and The UAE. The dormitories were quite comfortable too, we always had some delicious meals prepared for us.

La mejor escuela para aprender español en Madrid! I have now spent 3 wonderful months at this school, and my Spanish has progressed immensely. I had a decent level of Spanish before I came and now I can proudly say that I feel comfortable to take on any Spanish speaker in the world and have a full and logical conversation with them where I’m easily able to express my myself. A special thank you to professors Marissa, Eva, Sergio and Ángel as they made the learning experience incredible for me.

For anyone unsure on what Spanish school to choose in Madrid, look no further.

Great experience! Super informative, teachers really enthusiastic and make the classes really enjoyable. Only went for a week, but emerged with a much stronger foundation of Spanish. Encouraged to talk a lot which helps development massively.

I studied at Don Quijote for about 8 weeks and went from beginner to level B1 (basic conversations in past, present and future). This achievement was thanks to the brilliant staff and a great learning process at Don Quijote!! Pedro and Ara are enormously accommodating and the teaching staff, Kepa, Marisa, Paloma, Albert and all the others, are world class and come with great experience.

I took a combination of group classes (4 hours in the morning) and private classes in the afternoon. It worked best for my schedule and gave me the intense learning experience that i was looking for.

I love how the classes are organized, and the opportunity to interact with different professors throughout the day makes the 5 hours of learning and practicing Spanish fly by. Kudos to Eva, Virginia, Sergio R, Sergio, Alberto... I've learned a lot, improved my language skills, and enjoy being in the school benches again because they make it easy and fun.

i loved the experience in don quijote!! the teachers where super cool and suport! i enjoyed so much the accomodation in the apartments next to the scholl meeting peopke from all over the world. good price great quality and smaixing experience. thsnks so much

The location and quality of the building and classrooms is very good. However there is very little social atmosphere or sense of enjoyment by students. The school does not appear to regularly organise outings or dinners to bring students and teachers together to socialise. My homestay accomodation was not a pleasant experience because the woman I was living with was a very cranky person and definitely not suitable to host students. This school is also very expensive relative to what you get, and relative to other Spanish language schools in Madrid. I should have read all the reviews online before I signed up for this one!

This school is located in the city center, it is a beautiful building.

I was very lucky with my teachers, Paloma and Amanda, we were only three students, so I could improve a lot. The oral classes in the afternoon should be organised in another way. Two levels were mixed (A1/A2).

In the afternoon/in the evening/at the weekend the school did not offer any activities. It was very tough to meet other people.

This is a wonderful school in a great setting. I have attended for one or two weeks every year for a number of years. The teachers are outstanding, I have found them to be knowledgeable and flexible with different levels of learning. Very patient with all personality types. I especially enjoy the variety of ages and countries of origin I find here.
