Language school Academia Pradoventura

We had a wonderful experience in Prado del Rey with Academia Pradoventura! My kids and I took classes; we had our own teachers who collaborated to have some shared class time together which was a lot of fun. Anja also helped us arrange for the kids to be in local summer camps which they really enjoyed and was a great experience for not only language but also cultural immersion. The town is beautiful with a lot to explore in the area. There is very little English spoken in Prado del Rey which makes for an excellent learning environment! We stayed in the Casa Rural (independent stay) at Hotel del Carmen and had a wonderful experience there as well. I would recommend renting a car to be able to explore the area!

I spent two weeks studying at Academia Pradoventura in October. The course was a combination of language school for the morning and hiking in the afternoon.

It was so amazing and I could not possibly put into words how grateful I am to have had this opportunity. The staff and owners were so kind and helpful and made my stay so very enjoyable. The town and its people were lovely and it made it a great destination off the regular tourist track. There are always little things that I could critique but I try to remember that life is not perfect and sometimes you need to adjust and accept things as they are. If I could give any insight to someone thinking of doing this course, it would be to remember that things move at the pace of a group. This means that sometimes the hikes move slowly, or sometimes the class moves fast. Accept that you are a part of a group and just enjoy it.

My language skills and comfort level drastically improved in only two weeks. Huge thanks to my teacher Maribel. She had an amazing energy and made me feel comfortable even when I was struggling. Thank you Maribel!! At school I made friends and enjoyed many evenings with them. Living, shopping and just being part of this town also had such an impact. If you are considering this school, sign up. It is worth it.

I have done several immersion programs and the peaceful village setting close to the mountains was one of the many special parts of this group. There were multiple class levels depending on speaking and writing and the teachers really cared and the couple who runs the program are fantastic and kind people!!!!

I wish there were more levels for hiking (many expressed this desire) and that our teachers or other Spanish speakers were on our excursions so that we could really speak Spanish outside of class. I loved all the Germans I met on this program but because the teachers also speak German, this ended up being a default language during activities. It would be wise for them to spend more money to get the teachers or other locals to join us and speak more Spanish. Next time I come (and I hope there is one!), I would stay in an independent house or apartment instead of a family but that's just me! I highly recommend this program!

Thanks to Anja for being flexible to arrange a two half day Spanish course for two of us on our arrival into Spain. It was a great way to start our Spanish experience. Thanks to Maribel our teacher for her patience and encouragement. It gave us confidence to speak a little Spanish and at least try when ordering food etc. she also gave us some great tips on food to try in the places we were visiting and told us about some of the nuances of the Spanish culture. It was a great start to our holiday and added to our experience. Prado del Rey felt like the authentic Spain compared to some of the touristy cities on our travels. Thanks again Anja and Maribel

I just completed a two-week intense Spanish language course with Academia Pradoventura. It was simply outstanding, and just what I was looking for. I approached several language schools in the Cádiz province to see what they could offer to improve my Spanish. In my case my spoken language and comprehension were already good, but my grammar needed work. Academia Pradoventura were the only school that offered to tailor a class to my needs. As there was no specific course running that week, they provided a skilled teacher to give me personalised lessons. I would like to thank my teacher Mari Carmen for the dedication and planning that went into my classes, and all the energy and enthusiasm with which she delivered them. A big thanks also to Anja and José Luis who run the academy, such friendly and helpful people. I look forward to stopping by to say Hola again soon.

We had such a great experience with Academia Pradoventura in July, 2024. I brought my 7yo daughter to Prado del Rey for two weeks and we were joined by one set of friends the first week and another set of friends the second week, for a total of four girls, ranging in age from 6 to 10yo, participating in the town's summer camp "Ludoteca" in the mornings, and taking afternoon classes at the Academia. Anja was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, helping us find cool activities to take advantage of in the surrounding area, and making sure the language classes were appropriately leveled for each girl's varied Spanish knowledge and experience. The girls LOVED their teachers - we've been home for three weeks and they're still talking about how nice they were. Classes were fun and useful. First they would work in class on some new vocabulary or task, sometimes they'd watch a little video clip and narrate what they saw, and then they'd go for a walk through the town to put their knowledge to use, buying fruit at the frutería or describing what outfits people were wearing at the park. Overall, we were very happy with this experience and would definitely recommend to others!

I was on educational leave with Anja and Juan José for two weeks in April 2024 and it somehow felt like a language holiday with friends.

The willingness to help from Germany with regards to accommodation and a driver, if needed, was great.

Super nice and great people on site, which makes the stay much more pleasant.

I came there as an absolute beginner in Spanish and was a bit overwhelmed by the first day, but that's what everyone does with a new language. From the second day onwards I didn't understand everything, but I got used to it better and better. After two weeks, I am of course not able to have large conversations, but I have still gained a good understanding of the Spanish language and have also been able to expand my vacationer vocabulary... the rest comes with practice.

About Prado del Rey: I was aware that the place is rather smaller, but that was exactly one of my reasons for going there, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the German city. But the place isn't sleepy, my accommodation was just a few meters away from the language school and the main strip for bars. Parking was also always possible in the immediate vicinity of the apartment.

The excursions, which were also optionally carried out by Anja and Juan José, were also all interesting and absolutely fair in price.

Hikes: Part of this program also included going on a hike 2-3 times a week. Absolutely recommended, take good hiking shoes with you, because it can sometimes be difficult, even though every participant is taken into consideration.

Weekend: the weekends are completely self-directed. Places like Ronda or Cádiz are very easy to reach with your own rental car or even by bus

I had two wonderful weeks at the Academia Pradoventura. Anja and Jose run this school in a very personal and warm way. I was able to improve my Spanish a lot during this time and there was a lot of opportunity to apply what I learned in class in everyday life. The learning groups were very small, so the learning was very intensive. And the combination with the hikes in this really beautiful landscape is a really great concept.

I was able to improve my Spanish immensely in a week and at the same time had a very good time. There are also the hikes in this beautiful landscape. I recommend booking a rental car.

Fabulous on all levels! Anja and José Luis are wonderful, fun, and energetic hosts! The classes - taught by fun and knowledgeable teachers - are small and personal. The varied afternoon activities (hiking, olive oil tasting, wine tasting, and flamenco dancing) allow a gimps into local history, culture, and nature - while learning and practicing more even more Spanish.

Very personal, super committed, incredibly warm and absolutely professional.

We spent a wonderful week (5/2023) at the Academia in Prado del Rey. The small language school is located in the middle of town. It is one of the 'white villages' on the edge of a very beautiful mountainous natural park. Spanish lessons take place in small groups at school, in town or on hikes in the mountains.

With Profesora Maria we were able to enjoy an excellent teacher with very practical lessons.

The lessons could have been a little more!

The team at this Spanish language school - led by José Luis & Anja - went out of their way to make sure we had a successful stay. Classes are small and being in a typical Andalucían village means the experience is immersive and intimate. Our children also had classes here with a dedicated teacher, which included visits to the local square, park and outdoor cinema. Pradoventura also arranged walks in the beautiful hills around Prado del Rey, and a visit to a local bodega and other local producers. Recommended if you want an authentic, immersive Spanish language experience in a stunning rural setting.
