Extralingo Did the research

You probably have a lot of questions when considering a language trip. What does my first day of class look like? What if my class doesn't match my level? And what does my schedule actually look like? Extralingo figured it out for you!

Exciting, your first day at CLIC IH Málaga in Málaga!
At CLIC IH Málaga, they make sure you feel right at home from the very start. Here's roughly what your first day looks like:

Arrival
You'll be asked to arrive at the school on Monday at 8:45. Head to reception to check in and the team will be ready to welcome you.

Welcome presentation
At 9:00, the school kicks off with a welcome presentation. They'll walk you through all the practicalities: your timetable, how the school works, and introduce you to the staff. A great way to get your bearings before lessons begin.

In short
A first day designed to get you settled, informed, and ready to dive into learning Spanish with confidence. 🇪🇸

A communicative, real-world approach
At CLIC IH Málaga, lessons follow a communicative, task-based method focused on using Spanish in real-life situations. Because students come from different backgrounds and have different learning styles, the school avoids a one-size-fits-all approach and adapts teaching to each group.

Meaning over mechanics
From day one, the focus is on meaning and intention rather than just grammar rules. Students learn to express their own ideas and opinions, building real confidence and creativity in Spanish. Teachers guide you to think, interact, and communicate naturally in the language.

All four skills, authentic materials
Classes integrate all four language skills, just as in real communication. Lessons use authentic materials such as videos, podcasts, articles, and online resources, keeping things dynamic, engaging, and closely connected to the real world.

The city as your classroom 🌍
CLIC IH Málaga takes learning beyond the classroom whenever possible. Activities move into the streets of Málaga: practising food vocabulary at the Atarazanas market, doing treasure hunts around Picasso-related sites, or completing tasks in local shops. The city itself becomes a learning space where you use Spanish naturally and in context.

Two tests, both before you arrive
CLIC IH Málaga assesses your Spanish level before you set foot in the school, using a combination of a written and an oral test.

Written test
Once you complete your enrollment, you'll receive an online written test to complete at your own pace.

Oral test
During the week before your arrival in Málaga, the school will conduct a short oral test with you via WhatsApp video call or FaceTime. This gives them a clear picture of how you communicate in Spanish and ensures you're placed in the right group from the start.

Just talk to your teacher
If you feel your class isn't quite the right fit for your level, the best first step is to speak directly with your teacher. They will pass on your feedback to the Head of Studies, who will then take the appropriate action to get you into the right group as quickly as possible.

Attendance is key 🎓
To receive your course certificate from CLIC IH Málaga, you need to attend at least 80% of your lessons. Make sure you keep this in mind when planning any day trips or activities during your stay.

If this applies to you, the school will let you know in advance, normally the week before, and the schedule will apply for the full week. If you have a preference, you can let the school know by email and they will do their best to accommodate you.
