How lessons work at Instituto de Idiomas

Every teacher here is a native Spanish speaker with a university degree and a recognised teaching qualification. Group lessons run in the morning as the standard format, with average classes of 8 students and a maximum of 10. One-to-one lessons and language-plus-activity courses can also be scheduled in the afternoon, though you cannot request a morning or afternoon slot yourself. Before you arrive you take an online test, and your level is confirmed with a further check on your first day, so you join a class that matches where your Spanish stands.

All teachers are native Spanish speakers, each holding a university degree and a teaching qualification.
Morning group lessons are the standard format, with one-to-one lessons and language-plus-activity courses also offered in the afternoon.
If enrolment for your course is lower than expected, it still runs as a mini-group or individual lessons at no extra cost.
Lessons missed because of a national holiday are made up, not simply dropped from your course.
Beyond Spanish and English, staff also speak French, German, Catalan and Russian, useful if you need something explained in your own language.

Cancellation policies

All cancellations and postponements must be notified in writing by email to info@maxxinstitutes.com. Notifications not received by email will not be accepted.
At reservation, a fee applies of €200 for the non-refundable course deposit.
For cancellations made up to 30 days before the course start date, all fees paid will be refunded, except for a cancellation charge of €200.
For cancellations made between one month and one week before the course start date, all fees paid will be refunded less 25% of the total invoice and a cancellation charge of €200.
For cancellations made between 7 and 2 days before the course start date, all paid fees will be refunded less 40% of the total invoice and a cancellation charge of €200.
No refund will be given for cancellations made 2 days or less before the course start date, or once the course period has started.
No refunds will be given to students who shorten their booked package or miss lessons for reasons not related to Instituto de Idiomas Ibiza.
All refunds are subject to an administration charge of 10% of the refunded amount, with a minimum charge of €25.
If class days are changed one week or less before the programme start date, a charge of €50 applies.
Course breaks are free of charge if the student restarts the course programme within 4 weeks from the start of the break.
A course may be postponed for up to 12 months from the original start date. The school will agree a new preferred start date and rebook the course. Availability of the same level or schedule at the new start date is not guaranteed.
Course or lesson package hours must be used within 12 months from the start date stated on the enrolment form. Unused hours automatically expire and are non-refundable.
For one-to-one lessons, sessions may be rescheduled or changed free of charge if the school is notified by email at least 24 hours in advance. With less than 24 hours' notice, or in case of non-attendance, the lesson is considered taken and charged in full.
The school may limit or refuse further one-to-one lesson rescheduling where a student repeatedly cancels or changes lesson times.
Students wishing to change level during their stay should speak to the Academic Director and take a test before moving to the next level.
Students wishing to change course during their stay should speak to the Academic Director. Upgrades to a different group course or person-to-person course incur additional charges. No refund is given when changing to a lower-value course.
A change from a group course to a person-to-person course is possible only when the price difference for the same number of lessons is paid.

At reservation, a charge applies of €200 for the non-refundable deposit where accommodation is applicable.
For accommodation cancellations made more than 30 days before the scheduled arrival date, the full accommodation amount paid will be refunded, except for the placement fee.
For accommodation cancellations made 30 days or less before the scheduled arrival date, no refund will be given and the full accommodation amount will be retained.
No refund will be given once the accommodation period has started.
All refunds are subject to an administration charge of 10% of the refunded amount, with a minimum charge of €25.
Any accommodation change after arrival incurs a charge of 10% of the total value, with a minimum charge of €25.
When changing from one accommodation to another in the same category, an administration charge of €45 applies.
When changing to a superior accommodation category, the student will be charged the price difference in addition to the applicable administration charge.
When changing from one host family to another host family, or from a host family to any other accommodation type, an administration charge of €45 applies.

Evidence of visa refusal issued by the Spanish embassy in the student's country must be sent to the school by email.
If an entry visa is not granted and the school is informed by email 8 days or more before the enrolment start date, a full refund will be issued less a cancellation charge of €200, bank charges, and courier fees where applicable.
If the school is informed 7 days or less before the enrolment start date, a cancellation charge applies equivalent to the cost of one week of course, accommodation, registration fee, airport transfers and other applicable services, plus bank charges and courier fees where applicable.
