I've just completed my CELTA course, and it was such a fantastic experience, with equally fantastic people... The tutors -- Elaine, Alex, Melih and Jon -- and my colleagues have been some of the best people I've ever met. I took a full-time CELTA course at Stafford House in 2023. The course itself is well-designed, and gives you the chance to immediately put what you are learning into practice. The cycle of learning, applying and feedback is both concise and cohesive. The tutors are professional and passionate about their work. If you are interested in teaching English as a second language I couldn't recommend it more. I feel ready to walk into any... I took a full-time CELTA course at Stafford House in 2023. In the process of completing my CELTA course at Stafford House. The staff especially John and Jenny have been such wonderful tutors, and have taken such care and time to help us grow as individuals and especially as EFL teachers. It was a fantastically delivered and well resourced course. John and Jenny were professional and supportive and contributed to a great learning environment. Just finishing the CELTA intensive at Stafford. It was intense! The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the course. I feel much more equipped to be in the classroom. I can highly recommend Stafford House if you're considering doing any of the teacher training. The location is great and the team there are all amazingly helpful and kind. My tutors especially were fantastic. Overall, this is the ultimate safe space for personal development, growth, learning, teaching, and everything else that comes with doing the CELTA. A big thank you to Steve, Louise, Cameron and the whole team at Stafford... I can highly recommend Stafford House if you're considering doing any of the teacher training. The location is great and the team there are all amazingly helpful and kind. My tutors especially were fantastic. Overall, this is the ultimate safe space for personal development, growth, learning, teaching, and everything else that comes with doing the CELTA. I was Stafford House London student twice in 2019 and later in 2022.

Honestly, Stafford House London is the best thing that could happane to me. From the induction day to the graduation day, everything was amazing!

The staff at reception is very kind and understanding. They will assist my friends and me any time from answering questions to showing and taking us to the classroom, if we couldn't find it. I was Stafford House London student twice in 2019 and later in 2022.

Honestly, Stafford House London is the best thing that could happane to me. From the induction day to the graduation day, everything was amazing!

Academic office is always there to check on students' achivements and enquires. Besides having a huge range of courses and lessons, I was still abel to ask about other options for my module classes.

I will definitely recommend Stafford House to my friends. It was experience of a lifetime. Not only to study, but finding and having new friends. I am very lucky. Stafford House London gave lots of friends and now I can visit all of them all around the world.

I attended a free English class for the first time today, and I liked it very much, I was lucky enough to be in two different classes and I liked the methodology, they offer free English classes two hours every day, it is a great opportunity for those of us who cannot pay the academy fee at the moment. I did my Celta from September to November 2023. I found this a very pleasant experience from the beginning to the end of the course.

I found the staff very helpful and polite and they always helped me whenever I needed it.

Even though the course itself is stressful but the support I got from my trainers made it much easier. As I was required to do teaching practice at two different levels, both trainers... Even though the course itself is stressful but the support I got from my trainers made it much easier. As I was required to do teaching practice at two different levels, both trainers were really helpful and encouraging. As long as you do what they teach you and respond to the feedback, you will find the course very easy to pass. The trainers have excellent knowledge and experience, and you will be glad you enrolled here.

I will recommend this course to anyone who intends to pursue a career in English teaching 😉

I studied a part-time Celta course from September to November 2023, and I have to say I quite miss it! I mostly studied this course to become a qualified EFL teacher, but I also wanted to enhance my personal development!
I had never taught a thing to anyone in my life and I was very nervous for it, but I'm so glad I did it! If you're an anxious person, this course is really going to push you out of your comfort zone (which is a... I mostly studied this course to become a qualified EFL teacher, but I also wanted to enhance my personal development!
I had never taught a thing to anyone in my life and I was very nervous for it, but I'm so glad I did it! If you're an anxious person, this course is really going to push you out of your comfort zone (which is a good thing- how else will you grow?), I definitely recommend it. The workload was a lot, even for a part-time course, so make sure you leave PLENTY of time to do your work (this is really important). I'd personally recommend the part-time as I felt I was able to actually digest information and process it slower, I know people who do the full-time celta sort of feel a bit bamboozled as it goes so quickly and is very intense.

The students we taught were generally very lovely if you build a rapport with them first, and then suddenly teaching becomes a little easier and less daunting. I was also very lucky to receive a bunch of awesome celta classmates and we all helped each other when needed!

I had a lot of really good support from the teachers; Louise and John. Louise has a lot of knowledge on teaching, she's very experienced and was able to ask me questions that helped me to think about my procedures and contexts of the lesson, which I believe is very important. She was awesome and very constructive with her criticism! John has an incredible tv-presenter like teaching personality and had all of us engaged in the input sessions! He has a natural way of making students feel comfortable, I never felt confused or unsupported by him. John was very knowledgable and encouraging during feedback so as not to knock your confidence down. He was very kind and lovely to all students, which goes a long way if you're riddled with self-doubt! I really appreciated both of them and the support they gave.

There were some things I felt could be better, as I said I was very nervous to teach and I had never stood in front of a class before and I felt this process could have been a little easier. Perhaps for our first teaching lesson we could have done a smaller section from the book or a game for 15 minutes each? Just to get used to the idea of leading a class. Because they really do throw you into it. Most people who have taught before would be fine but I definitely was panicking like crazy before my first lesson.
I also felt towards the end my confidence was diminishing; there was too much feedback and it felt like I kept doing everything wrong even up until my last lesson. That wasn't a very good feeling. Teaching English I've heard isn't as complicated as I was made to feel and I mostly wanted to help students learn in a fun and engaging way, but I wasn't able to do that because I was so nervous of mucking it all up that I kept to the book and didn't let things get fun in my lessons :( I still feel a little self doubt in my abilities as a teacher because of all the negative feedback, but i'm aware my skills will develop with real-life experience.

Sometimes I felt there was no clarity on where resources were and how to use them, although no one can hold your hand through life of course, it still felt there was a lack for me there.

The building itself is a little older, toilets are going to be improved (hopefully). I felt that the classrooms with no desks were a little odd, and theres not really anywhere to leave your teaching materials whilst teaching! But this point might be a personal preference. Also the lower ground floor room made my eczema go crazy so just keep that in mind too.

HOWEVER, in general this was a brilliant idea for me, a bit pricey for what I received, but I've passed my Celta and I'm really glad I pushed myself to do something like this. If you are like me, scrolling and reading reviews wondering to yourself if you could handle anything like this, you most definitely can, just keep your head on and your wits about you and I promise you, you'll be fine. Push yourself, it's worth it :)

That's exactly how I want to learn, without rushing myself and not rushing things. I'm quite sad that we have to change teachers next week. I'd really like to stress that I'm disappointed by this kind of change just as I'm gaining confidence and getting used to the environment.
As for the class, the other people are great and caring. I've been able to make some links over time.

I applied for a Celta course to become a qualified TESOL teacher .I found the school details on Cambridge website otherwise would have never trusted the school. Unfortunately after a few days into the course,I noticed that the quality of teaching was very low and felt I would not learn anything due to the rushed nature of the tutor’s teaching. So I expressed my... I am leaving this review after almost a year of waiting for a refund. I applied for a Celta course to become a qualified TESOL teacher .I found the school details on Cambridge website otherwise would have never trusted the school. Unfortunately after a few days into the course,I noticed that the quality of teaching was very low and felt I would not learn anything due to the rushed nature of the tutor’s teaching. So I expressed my dissatisfaction about the rushed pace of the course when he failed me on that very day. May be the incident was related to my objection or maybe I under-achieved according to him. Any way. I was not happy with the way he handled the course .I asked to withdraw and the principal refused to do so many times saying I had already signed an agreement.
I complained to Cambridge and they tossed me back to the school. I took a legal action and took the school to the court . I would have never imagined to take a school to a court whereas this could have been resolved amicably elsewhere.The judge's verdict was very disappointing and I was told that since I had signed an agreement , I would not be eligible for a refund.
I explained to the judge that the quality of the provision was not satisfactory and that the money I paid did not reflect the quality . I was unemployed and still is and the school did not even want to call and at least refund me partially .

There is a comment from someone who had a similar issue, and he managed to get a refund and I did not . Can the school explain to me why they failed to refund me and refund another student with a similar issue . Anyway I am glad he managed to get his refund .I have been seeking legal advice recently as the act of the school is not justifiable as they have decided to refund someone with a similar issue not me.This is so ridiculous!

I paid for the accommodation in advance, but now the school won't give me a refund and they keep making excuses. This is my complaint about school. I hope I will take my refund. I was eager to take the CELTA course at Stafford House London, but it turned out to be a huge mistake.... NEW UPDATE:

I had a bad experience with this school for the CELTA course, they didn't care at all. I suppose to join the new batch in July that I was transferred to, but now I have my reasons not to join; one of them is that I'm still traumatised by how they treated me.

My STORY AND EXPERIENCE:

I was eager to take the CELTA course at Stafford House London, but it turned out to be a huge mistake. The course cost me 1300 GBP, and I was excited to learn and grow as a language teacher. The first mistake is that at the first zoom meeting for all CELTA candidates, nobody from the staff or the supposed person who would meet us showed up. They made us wake up in the morning, we canceled our plans, and then they kept us waiting for more than 40 mins then nobody showed up, and we didn't even receive an update email! A day later, they rescheduled the first meeting and didn't care about other people who asked the meeting to be recorded, few people joined, and I was one of them. A few days later, the manager sent me other assignments and tests, and gosh, it took me a long time to complete them; then, it appears she sent these tasks by mistake and was not supposed to be for CELTA candidates. Anyways, the experience was far from positive. The tutor that I was assigned with was biased against me for no apparent reason and treated me differently from the other CELTA candidates. I was the only one who received negative feedback and comments about my performance, which eventually led to a mental breakdown.

Not only was the tutor unappreciative of my extra efforts, but they also made me feel inadequate and undermined my confidence as a teacher. I felt like I was the only one who was struggling, and it was a daily battle to keep up with the course. The tutor's lack of professionalism and biased behavior was unacceptable, and I felt that I wasn't getting the education I paid for. They wasted my time and energy for nothing. Protect your peace.

I reached out to the school and expressed my concerns, but they were not willing to help. The manager promised to assist me in transferring to another batch which I told her would suit me the most, I gave her multiple dates that I like, then we had a minor discussion about April batch that I'm not really interested in, I didn't show enough care to join the April batch like what I did with the other dates, but she insisted that I join April LOL and she precisely knows that it would be a struggle for me to join April since it will be Face-to-face and not online and I live far away from London; she never followed through with her promises, she kept on ignoring me and kept on defending the tutor, and said there is no evidence of the negative treatment! When I showed evidence of the negative treatment I received, the manager dismissed it and took not declaring my mental condition (anxiety&depression) as an excuse to not help me now, and that I should have declared it at first. Thankfully, I'm not struggling with anxiety&depression anymore, but I'm truly traumatised by their behaviour which will attract those mental conditions to anyone. Even though it was never mentioned in the agreement as if I have mental (condition), they used another term that contradicts my mental condition and ethics. Then I ignored her and called out the principal to solve the issue, and it took them long enough to transfer me to a batch that I desired, which will be in July 2023.

I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and empathy from the staff at Stafford House London. It was a waste of my time and money, and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone else. I highly advise against enrolling in this school, as their reviews are artificially inflated and the staff lacks any kind of empathy or professionalism. If you're looking to take the CELTA course, I highly recommend going to International House London (IH) instead. They have a reputation for providing quality education and a supportive learning environment. Don't risk your mental health and financial investment by enrolling in Stafford House London.

I applied for a Celta course to become a qualified TESOL teacher .I found the school details on Cambridge website otherwise would have never trusted the school. So I expressed my dissatisfaction about the rushed pace of the course when he failed me on that very day. May be the incident was related to my objection or maybe I under-achieved according to him. Any way. I was not happy with the way he handled the course .I asked to withdraw and the principal refused to do so many times saying I had already signed an agreement.
I complained to Cambridge and they tossed me back to the school. I took a legal action and took the school to the court . I would have never imagined to take a school to a court whereas this could have been resolved amicably elsewhere.The judge's verdict was very disappointing and I was told that since I had signed an agreement , I would not be eligible for a refund.
I explained to the judge that the quality of the provision was not satisfactory and that the money I paid did not reflect the quality . I was unemployed and still is and the school did not even want to call and at least refund me partially .

There is a comment from someone who had a similar issue, and he managed to get a refund and I did not . Can the school explain to me why they failed to refund me and refund another student with a similar issue . Anyway I am glad he managed to get his refund .I have been seeking legal advice recently as the act of the school is not justifiable as they have decided to refund someone with a similar issue not me.This is so appalling !

I recently finished a course at Stafford House London. The staff is shockingly unprofessional. I was stopped and harshly interrogated by a member of staff as I entered the building (what are you doing here? Who are you? What do you want?), even though I had my key and badge in my hand, and I had just used it to enter the building. It felt like racial profiling. Following that incident, a tutor who I had just started teaching me went on a ten minute tirade, repeatedly calling me very abrasive, and that from the first time he saw me he thought I was very abrasive. I was subjected to his insulting and demeaning behaviour in front of other students, all because I pointed out a mistake he had made. I made a formal complaint to school about both incidents outlining that I felt its staff's insulting, demeaning, humiliating, using racial tropes, and harshly interrogating behaviour towards me has something to do with my race, and this treatment of me is unacceptable. The principal and one of his team held a meeting with me to discuss my concerns. During the meeting, they just glossed over/vindicated their staff discriminatory behaviour using a series of lies, made up stories, and gaslighting tactics. Instead of addressing the problem they try to make me the problem. They even threatened to cancel my course claiming that I called their staff racist and that I was not doing well on the course. At that end, I pointed out, ‘’so this is where the punishment begins, victimisation in the Equality Act is illegal’’. After that they started back pedalling.

After all that, the tutor who called me very abrasive in front of other students, he warned the class about Swiss people. His exact words were, ‘’Swiss people are very demanding, they want their pound of flesh, they are very difficult people and they don’t smile’’. One of the students asked which country Swiss people were from. He told her they were from Switzerland. She said, she didn't want to confuse them with Swedish people. He said, oh no I am talking about Swiss people, just remember they are difficult and they don’t smile. He was openly prejudging and discriminating against a nation of people, and encouraging others to do so. And he didn’t care if we had Swiss family or friends, and might find what he said harmful and upsetting. No Swiss person was there to defend themselves, so imagine what they are saying about your people when you are not there.

Their behaviour and attitudes towards paying customers defies logic. I’m amazed that Cambridge University let this place sells its product. I regretted going there to do my Celta course. I would not recommend it to anyone because the standard is appallingly awful, unprofessional and discriminatory.

Steve did threaten to cancel my course. He said, ‘’I am going to cancel your course and you’re not getting your money back. You've called John a racist and he could lose his job’’.Varinder interjected, ''You’ve made some serious allegations against our staff, and also you are not doing well on the Celta course and you are going to fail''. I said, "what! fail, so you're going to punish me and cancel my course because I made a complaint against John''. I was looking directly at Varinder and she said, "I didn’t say it". I said, "yes you did". Steve interjected, ‘’I said I’m going to cancel your course''.

Which tutor supported me? What extra help? You did not offer me any help.

His response is littered with lies and made up stories.

Cambridge Assessment at yourfeedback emails is for feedback regarding its Celta course assessment. It doesn’t deal with Stafford House racism and discrimination complaints. My complaint is against Stafford House tutors racist behaviour. I had no issues with the Celta course.

Potential customers beware as no company would ever admit that its staff is racist and engage in discriminatory behaviour, so Stafford House investigations will always be in Stafford House favour.
