Excellent teacher Marta and flexible engaging lessons in Iria Flavia

"I was unfortunately only able to be in Iria Flavia for one week, but the school is great and I learned a lot. My teacher Marta is brilliant. She was very patient and shaped the classes with a lot of humor and ease. The lessons were quite freestyle and we could incorporate wishes and needs. For me there were sometimes in a short time a bit too many new inputs. But I studied diligently and will go over all the new words and verbs again in the next days. The two tours were okay, since I started at A2 level in Spanish, I did not understand a lot, but that is also not the expectation. The school is rather small and we were only three in the class. It is of course great that the teacher can respond to everyone individually. I think it is not ideal if you come alone and want to meet new people; it is then a bit of luck who else is there and how it fits. Santiago is a nice city, but quite small, and after a week I already had the feeling I had seen almost everything."

Confessional: booked a language course in Santiago but didn’t attend

"I’m putting this here because I deserve to be confronted by my own behaviour. I came to Santiago claiming I was here for a language course, something I even booked, and then lied to my wife so I could spend my days drinking instead. Skipping class, hiding in bars like Cervexaría Rúa Bella and now Mambara, pretending I’m doing something worthwhile while actually doing nothing but betraying the person who trusts me. The lie is as bad as any betrayal, and writing this publicly is the only way I can force myself to face the truth about what I’ve turned into."

Outstanding teacher training course in Galicia with great staff and excursions

"An unprecedented experience. I participated in the training for Spanish teachers, specifically the course Cultural Resources in the ELE classroom. The teacher Marcos is the best: dynamic, fun, and very knowledgeable; he gave us many tools to use in class. The director is very attentive, kind, and attentive to students, and the secretary Angela is very responsive and helpful. The excursions included in the course are magnificent, with an exceptional guide. I loved Galicia. Bravo Iría Flavia! Thank you for that magnificent week! I recommend it with all my heart. You will not regret it."
