Language school El Aula Azul

I had a fantastic experience studying at El Aula Azul in San Sebastián. The Spanish teaching was excellent—clear, engaging, and tailored to different levels. The classroom activities were interactive and practical, which made learning both effective and fun. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it easy to practice and improve quickly. I’d highly recommend this school to anyone wanting to learn Spanish in an enjoyable way!

I loved the classes with Salva – they are interesting and engaging, and you can really tell he puts a lot of time and energy into them. I didn’t just improve my Spanish; I also learned a lot about different topics, including fascinating aspects of Spanish culture and history. Highly recommended!

El Aula Azul was a fantastic experience for me and also for my kids (I was in a classroom, and they did the Spanish in the City for teens). The teachers were fabulous! It wasn't just sitting in a classroom memorizing things - we played games and talked. The curriculum is such that it would work for a person coming for one or two weeks as well as someone who wanted to come for 3 months. The school is centrally located, very easy communication with the school admin folks - I only wish I could have stayed longer. We learned a lot, and had a lot of fun doing it. As an additional bonus, my daughter took guitar lessons in Spanish with a local teacher, coordinated by El Aula Azul. Highly recommend!!

What a beautiful place! I really enjoyed my 3 weeks here and learned so much Spanish. The teachers Martin and Violetta made the classes very enjoyable and the 3 hours every day flew by. The support staff were very friendly and helpful and did a really good job finding me a new accommodation. The school set me up with a local roommate who lived 10 min from the beach and was always willing to practice Spanish with me. Thank you for the great experience!

El Aula Azul is an excellent language school. Ester runs it with a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, the quality of the teachers is very high, & it's affordable. I have been in Salva's class and am very happy with my increased knowledge and abilities in Spanish. Highly recommend the school!

I just wish I had started classes at this school earlier! The extensive sessions, lasting 1.5 hours twice a week, really facilitated my rapid progress. The pricing is good, the location is excellent, and the professors are top-notch. What mattered most to me was that the school offered a full range of levels—not just beginner courses like many other schools—and had a flexible schedule that allowed me to attend classes after my full-time job.

Just spent 1 month studying at El Aula Azul in San Sebastián. Could not be happier with my experience. The teachers are smart, creative and actively engage with students using a variety of resources- readings, music, games, video clips and conversation. I learned so much and I had the impression that the director is aware of the progress of every student. On top of the school experience, San Sebastián is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. I cannot wait to go back.

I really enjoyed learning Spanish at Aula Azul in Donostia (I was enrolled in the intensive course). I arrived there with the wish to be able to communicate with the Spanish speaking mother of my girlfriend and my wishes have totally been exceeded!!

I can only recommend Aula Azul for people willing to learn Spanish no matter of age or origin. I know that a recommendation that doesn't have any critiques doesn't seem very believable but I would include it here if had one. The teachers have been very supportive and are very kind.

One tip I can give to everyone who wants to learn the language here: Be prepared to make mistakes and ACTUALLY MAKE THEM. Don't be afraid to say or write something the wrong way or be shy. Everyone is very helpful and if you just go for it you will have an awesome experience!

As soon as I will be back for a week or two in Donosti I will for sure join back to the program.

El Aula Azul was the highlight of our family's experience in San Sebastian. Extremely experienced and thoughtful teachers for both kids and adults, who were responsive to needs of students. Curriculum was experiential and exciting for the kids, while just what adults wanted in their own sessions. Administration was excellent, and somehow they created a real community atmosphere! Highly recommend!!

What a fantastic school, in a beautiful city and an amazing experience for the entire family. Students will leave this program with a better understanding of Spanish, the importance of languages and more comfort level listening and speaking Spanish. The staff is super easy to work with and very helpful. All this takes place in an amazing city with so much for everyone to do.

I cannot recommend enough the Spanish language learning center, El Aula Azul, in San Sebastián Spain. So many good things. The location is in the center of town and easy to get to. The administrators in every area were professional, responsive, very polite and well organized. The teachers were very professional but also creative in the classroom subjects and with enthusiasm that made the courses a delight to take. I totally recommend the program and I plan on taking more classes next year.

I studied Spanish for a week in June and it was a great experience, the staff were welcoming and so helpful. The classes were engaging and well-planned. The classroom was bright and cheerful. The school is well located in Santander and easy to get to. I would highly recommend!

This Spanish school is highly recommended. All the administrators and teachers are so warm and friendly. It was my second time there and I'm already looking forward to next year. The accommodation provided is also perfect. If you have a problem, the teachers and the school office won't leave you alone. The extracurricular activities are also really great. I stayed 2 months in Santander where I was given high quality spanish classes. I also had the chance to try surfing and had classes almost everyday (when ever it was possible) and I absolutely loved it. The surf school is great with a nice staff and beautiful surfing spot near Santander. I am grateful I got the opportunity to surf while having spanish classes.

I had a great time! The quality of the lessons is incredibly good, the teachers are so motivated and welcoming! It was a great experience to learn and do activities with people that were not my age, I always felt very welcome and whenever I needed something, the personal could help me immediately. I 100% recommend you to go for Aula Azul if you wanna learn Spanish the fastest way possible!

I have taken a few courses at El Aula Azul now and every time it has been an excellent experience! Ester and team really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable, both in the classroom and out - they are constantly organizing social activities and language exchanges to provide an immersive and well-rounded experience. I know there are other youth summer options in San Sebastian, but El Aula Azul is the best one.

We are from the U.S., and our family lived in San Sebastian for 5 weeks last summer. We have two kids, a 10 year old girl and an 8 year old boy. They were enrolled in the school's "Spanish in the City" course for multiple weeks. They absolutely loved it.

Of course there were the benefits that we anticipated... Our kids picked up more Spanish, they got to explore this wonderful city, and it gave us parents a little time to ourselves.

But honestly, it was the benefits we did not predict that we ended up valuing the most. To put it simply, El Aula Azul gave our family a COMMUNITY while we were thousands of miles from home. Our kids made friends with other people their age also in town for the summer. And I made friends with other parents. Some of our fondest memories were those we made hanging out with other families from the the school. We went on a countryside tour with one family. We hosted another family at our apartment to watch the Tour de France come through town. I hiked with a few parents one morning. And I ended up going on a pintxos tour with another parent that was too much fun.

We looked forward to camp drop-off and pick-up every day, where our kids could see their friends, and where we could connect with other parents and teachers.

Lastly, the staff at El Aula Azul could not be more friendly and accommodating. I miss them! I miss the whole summer!

We are traveling to another European location this upcoming summer, and I asked the folks at El Aula Azul "do you know of an El Aula Azul where we're going?" That's how much I'd recommend this school.

Where to begin… Around this time last year I embarked on a journey to San Sebastián to learn Spanish. In doing so, I was welcomed by El Aula Azul who became an extension of my family. I had close to zero skills when I began, however, with the help of their support and great teaching I can comfortably hold conversations now and generate my own thoughts.

I must state that El Aula Azul is more than just a place of learning, as they organise social activities and events (EVERY WEEK) which helps you meet other students across many classes. I never knew I would meet so many interesting people from all over the world.

My experience with the school last year blew my expectations out of the water and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough - it’s a must do experience, especially with the calibre of their teachers 10/10.

I very much look forward to returning!

I can highly recommend this langugage school. I've been learning spanish here for 4 months now with several teachers and all of them are amazing! Young and motivated teachers for all levels - as I arrived I barely knew spanish. The groups are small with people from diferent countries with interesting personalities.

Also there are activities besides the clases such as discovering the city or the area around. The city is absolutely beautiful and worth a visit!

It is always posible to adjust the schedule to the personal needs with the timetables etc.

No matter if for one week or one year - I can recommend this place to everyone who wants to improve their spanish!!

Everything about our 3-week experience at El Aula Azul exceeded all of our expectations!

The quality of the TEACHING STAFF: dynamic, varied country backgrounds, knowledgeable about the finer points of Spanish grammar and vocabulary that learners struggle with, and always inspiring the class to stretch to achieve a higher level of competence. A bonus was that they were all extremely likeable!

The efficient school ORGANIZATION: the team behind the scenes made sure that everything ran very smoothly; delivered on the promise of matching us to the correct level of instruction and making adjustments as needed, answered questions promptly, solved any issues we had and paved the way for a smooth experience.

The EXTRA-CURRICULAR opportunities: the "Intercambio" evening language social that the school hosts was a lively event that we enjoyed every week. Meeting local people from San Sebastian gave us a great opportunity to try out what we learned in class. The afternoon tours and the Monday morning orientation served as great connectors between students of the different classes. They built a sense of community.

The INSTRUCTION METHODS: were varied and stimulating. It's been a long time since I sat in a classroom to learn a language and didn't know what to expect. The role plays, videos, music and discussion topics keep things very dynamic, covered broad swaths of vocabulary while drilling us on the next level of grammar. Impressive curriculum!

OVERALL: If you're looking for a language learning experience, look no further!!!

Our entire family of 5 took classes at El Aula Azul and it was a highlight of our summer. Our teenager loved meeting friends from around the world and getting to know the area in his Spanish in the City class he took for 3 weeks. My husband and I had excellent teachers in our adult Spanish classes and loved having the 3 hours each morning to anchor the day and get us ready to practice what we learned, and our younger boys had a blast doing art, dance, cooking, and playing with other kids their age while working on their Spanish. Maybe most of all, the school was a resource and community hub for us for our entire month+ stay in San Sebastián. We hope to be back!

The staff is lovely and welcomes you with kindness, the teachers are so sweet and helpful (gracias Martin y Raquel!), the class set up is great to speak as much Spanish as possible and to get to know your classmates.

There is 1,5h of class, 30min break, and another 1,5h of class. This allows you to get a coffee around the corner, meet people from other classes as well and have a little chat before continuing the second part of class - perfect!

The school also offers fun activities for free, and sets up accommodation for you if you wish.

I am motivated to keep learning Spanish and hope to be back here soon. Hasta pronto 🤗

I had such a great experience at the blue room. The staff were so helpful and the teachers that I had were so much fun and taught me so much! I met new friends from all over the world. It was wonderful!

If you are spending time in San Sebastian, my husband and I found taking Spanish lessons at El Aula Azul one of the best parts of our time here. The school is excellent at placing you at the right level for a brush up or really deep learning of Spanish. ALL the teachers are engaging, fun and very good at their job. Flexible classes at their very convenient location was the anchor of our days. I was determined to get better at Spanish and they helped me with my goal. My husband was relatively conversant and they greatly increased his vocabulary and his ability to communicate in every aspect of SS life. I think the mix of young and old people is fun. In the summer, the kids taking Spanish in the morning and surfing in the afternoon seemed to be having the most fun. They also have a lot of fun activities outside of class time you can participate in. I can't imagine a better language school in an incredible city. Thanks!

I was very pleased by the Spanish classes. The school is well organized, welcoming, adaptable and the staff is very friendly. The teacher Sara is very sweet and patient. She explains very well. We were only 2 persons in the group and she made us talk as much as possible. I highly recommend the school.

I can recommend the language school to everyone! Very motivated and well organized teachers. With the right learning structures, they manage to teach you a lot in a very short amount of time. So even if your time is limited, it is definitely worth it.

It was a really good course, although I just studied there for one week, due to my budget, but it was enough to embrace their spirit. Great teachers, great staff, great place. The classes are not boring at all and it was so sad when I finished. They offer many options of extra activities, it helps a lot with to dive in the language.

I was very impressed with El Aula Azul. My teacher , Gloria, was one of the best teachers I've ever had and I've been studying Spanish for over 40 years. I was very pleased with the daily activities in the afternoon that were optional and affordable. This school is well organized and a happy place to study Spanish.

Awesome experience in San Sebastian! I took 10 hours of personalized Spanish classes (and two hours of Euskera!) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience -- the teachers were fantastic, took time to prepare for the daily classes and were very flexible; the staff is very welcoming and super friendly; the location can't be beat; and the price is very reasonable. Highly recommended! I will be back!
