Studying Spanish at CLIC in Cadiz

Study Spanish in Cadiz, the oldest city in Western Europe, at a school built around small classes and a rooftop terrace where the harbour breeze does most of the cooling. The beach is a five-minute walk away, close enough for a swim once your morning lessons finish.

Classes stay small, capped at 10 and averaging 8 students, taught by native Spanish teachers who all hold a teaching qualification. Students arrive from more than 20 countries, and the school runs a dedicated Spanish and surf combination alongside its regular courses.

How lessons work at CLIC

Lessons run in small groups, 5 to 10 students, with a maximum of 10, so teachers can focus on what you personally need to work on rather than teach to a crowded room. Standard group classes run each weekday morning from 09:15 to 13:00, and some course types, including the more intensive options, add afternoon lessons such as conversation practice. Your level is set before you travel through an online test, then confirmed on your first day with a short oral conversation with a teacher, so you start in a class suited to your Spanish level.

  • All teachers are native Spanish speakers who hold both a teaching qualification and a university degree.
  • Classes have 5 to 10 students, with a maximum of 10.
  • Intensive Spanish courses keep the same group cap of up to 10 students.
  • Teaching takes place across 13 fully equipped classrooms.

Students you may meet at CLIC

CLIC Cadiz draws a broadly international crowd, with German, Italian and Dutch students among the largest groups and a wide spread of other nationalities besides. Many students arrive on their own, and the school leans into that from the start: a welcome activity introduces new arrivals to the city and to each other before the first lesson is over. From there, the rooftop terrace, shared kitchen and weekly activity programme give people repeated chances to mix between lessons and after class. A few practical ways to start meeting people follow below.

Your first day at CLIC Cadiz

You will already have taken an online test before travelling, which gives the school an initial indication of your level. On your first morning, a teacher confirms that placement through a short spoken conversation, which decides which group you start in. From there, the welcome activity helps you get oriented in Cadiz and meet other students in a relaxed, guided setting.

What happens on your first day

  • Your level, already gauged by an online test before arrival, is confirmed through a short oral conversation with a teacher.
  • You take part in the school's welcome activity, which helps you meet other students.

Safety, support & wellbeing

You have clear points of contact whenever you need help: a designated student support person, an emergency line that runs outside school hours, and staff on site throughout the day. Emergency numbers and a safety briefing are given on arrival, so you know who to contact in an emergency. Staff are background-checked, a formal safeguarding policy is in place, and any incident is logged rather than handled informally. The school also works with local medical providers and assists directly if you need medical care.If you stay with a host family and are unexpectedly absent, the school contacts the family directly to check on you. Attendance is tracked throughout the course, so unexplained absences get picked up quickly.

Under 5 minute emergency response

No serious incidents in 2 years
