Language school A door to Italy

I had a wonderful experience doing my Bildungsurlaub at A Door to Italy in the beautiful city of Genoa this October. The classes were engaging, dynamic, and a lot of fun, and the teachers were excellent! My Italian improved significantly during my stay. I would recommend this school without hesitation to anyone who wants to learn Italian in a welcoming and motivating environment!

Hello everyone. I was in "A door to Italy" for two weeks in July 2025 and I found it fabulous. The location, the 2 office workers, the teachers and the classes were all excellent. It is a small school which provides a great service. As a language school owner and student of other Italian language schools, I would highly recommend "A door to Italy". P.S. I also LOVED Genoa

I took 3 month of non intensive classes in 2024 with A door to Italy; best choice I have done. So good that when I came back in 2025, I decided to take 2 weeks of intensive classes. I enjoyed it as much as before. As a person who loves languages and speaks multiple (English, French, Spanish and German). I highly suggest A door to Italy for anyone who is looking to either learn Italian for just a short amount of time or even if you plan to say for a long while!! The office and all of their teachers are amazing, kind and are good at what they do: teach.

One thing that I really love of A door to Italy, is how they have everything balanced. Writing, reading, listening comprehension and Oral production is all distributed perfectly through out each day.

As for extracurriculars, they have activities planned such as Italian films, singing in Italian, an hour to speak in Italian and even trips to visit and get to know the city of Genova, as well as to places like Portofino and much more. (Of course, for those kind of trips which are not in the city, you do have to pay. But trust me, it's worth it.)

You'll meet a lot of new people every week (because new people arrive every week), so you will have the possibility to get to know other people from all around the world.

Both the office and teachers understand and speak English well (including Russian and some other languages), if you ever need help. But of course, the goal is to try and speak Italian as much as possible, which they will help you in everyway possible.

With the 3 months and 2 week in total that I did, I feel confident when I speak. Of course, I still make mistakes from time to time, but I can understand others very well and I can give my opinion and be understood.

I spent a wonderful week in this school. They are flexible and it is possible to change the group level if necessary during the week. All the staff is very nice, helpful and warm. The school has a very good situation in Genova.

I really enjoyed my time at A Door to Italy, everyone was very friendly and helpful, and the teachers were great. I learned a lot!

If you are really interested in italian language - this is the school you should go to!

A Door to Italy is a fantastic language school that I would happily and confidently recommend to anyone seeking to learn Italian. The extracurricular activities are great. The teachers are all highly trained professionals who use a variety of contemporary as well as tried-and-true methods of language acquisition to give any student a valuable and truly immersive education. I started as a complete novice and after four weeks was able to communicate on the streets with anyone in both personal and professional ways. I am able to express my immediate needs as well as my thoughts and opinions and experiences in a variety of tenses. I feel comfortable and confident that I am understood by any listener.

Additionally, the host family program the school operates is successful and I’d recommend taking advantage of that as a student receives even more authentic language input living (and help and advice!) with a family than living alone.

I say all of this as a language learning professional myself, with a decade of experience in the field. From this school I learned a lot and left feeling confident in my abilities to speak and understand Italian.

I spent 10 days in Genoa taking an intensive class at the school A door to Italy. It's not the first time I'm taking a language class abroad (I speak three languages), but this really was the best experience. Everybody was incredibly friendly and incredibly professional. The combination made all the difference.

The classes were small, everybody was willing to help, the teachers have a good sense of humor besides the experience, of course.

Michela was there to help with each and every question not only regarding the school, but everything beyond as well, including getting a taxi to leave early in the morning.

The school is run very professionally, and I hope to come back. Meanwhile I'll continue with the school via their zoom lessons.

The school is excellent, I had an outstanding experience during my two-week stay. Federica and Gianluca have gone to great length to be helpful and help me make the best out of my time with them. They are both excellent professionals, passionate about their work and this shows in the quality of the services they provide. I had attended several online courses at A Door to Italy. They were great, well-structured and supplied with very good materials. Then, I took a one-week semi-intensive course in Genova. It was as excellent and educative as the online courses.

I received a very warm welcome and all support I needed. Registration has been smooth and administration office reactive and helpful since the day I contacted them for the very first time. Teachers have been professional, dynamic and attentive to the needs of the students. Upon request, they provided with additional materials.
