Language school LILA Liverpool

Our Rugby team did a team building session with LILA* to focus on communication, identifying strengths in each other, respect and cooperation. It was insightful to see all the skills we need to improve our gameplay in a different environment and, most importantly, was a lot of fun!

The speaker was fantastic and very engaging. The activities were well matched to the areas of development our sports club wanted to focus on and everyone got involved. Feedback from our members was very positive and they all mentioned how much they had learnt about the team dynamic but also more about their own ways of communicating and leadership.
Definitely recommend to other sports clubs!

I would like to give a special thank to my host family, Linda. She truly made me feel like I was at home, not just staying with a host family. I am very grateful to her for her kindness and care. She taught me many things during this journey and helped me adapt easily to life in Liverpool , she supported my mental health whenever i miss my family and this makes me feel much better

I haven’t been at LILA for long but for the little time I’ve been here especially on my first day, I felt so welcome and the staff are incredibly helpful and patient. The students I met as well on my first day were really and social. This is a really comfortable and enjoyable environment for learning. I love it!

Given that my experience at Lila was brief, lasting two weeks, and was undertaken under the specific circumstances I found myself in at that time during the year, my opinion is this: Lila language school is good overall, but I'd say there are several areas where it could definitely improve. Here's a brief summary:
1- type of course and teachers
I honestly didn't find any substantial differences between this course and others elsewhere, including English language courses in their own country. Why would a foreign student come to Liverpool, UK, to attend a course that's essentially a copy of what they'd do at a language school in their home country?
As for the teachers, they generally seemed knowledgeable and helpful. However, I found myself attending certain classes that I didn't feel were quite in line with what a language course for adults, especially at an upper-intermediate level, should be. Let me explain with some examples: regarding the content, certain exercises, while useful, were perhaps a bit banal for older students who likely already have some knowledge of the foreign language they'd like to improve. Regarding the way the lessons were taught, without wanting to go into the merits of others' work, I had the impression that certain things are designed more to fill time than to add something extra for a deeper understanding of the topics.
2- attendance
Maybe I didn't fully understand the rules explained to us on the first day of class, but for example, why do some students arrive to class 10-15 minutes late if the allowed time is only 5 minutes?
3- homestay accomodation
Aside from the fact that when offering student accommodations, it should be specified that the bathroom is shared and not reserved for the host. Nonetheless, my knowledge of English, though not advanced, leads me to believe that whenever they say "meals are cooked by the host family," they actually mean dishes prepared by someone, and not, as I have experienced, ready-made meals or meals bought at the supermarket and then reheated at home.
4- social activities
Perhaps there could have been some evening activity, like going to see a film at the cinema or a show at the theatre together as a group.
As mentioned above, since I believe there is considerable room for improvement, I have taken the liberty of giving this institution or school a rating of three out of five stars.

I am very happy to have chosen Lily School. I have learned so much in English. I am proud to be a student here. I thank all the teachers, the principal, and all the staff for everything they do for all the students. I thank them on behalf of myself and every student at this prestigious school for their English language instruction.

I have had an amazing experience with LILA* - the team are incredibly committed and passionate about their work with everyone going out of their way to deliver the best that they can for the students and for their colleagues. Being an international college there are students from all over the world, but all are made to feel equally welcome and valued and supported to exceed their expectations whilst also having fun and discovering Liverpool, the region and the UK - wonderful and heartily recommended - already have friends sending their children here!

I studied there for a short period, but I’d like to share my brief opinion. It’s a good place to take an English course, located in a proper center. The teachers are welcoming and treat students very well. The atmosphere was positive, especially among the students. I honestly recommend anyone to go and give it a try.

Lila is not only an excellent training school, it is also incredible at organizing the whole experience in this country. We've been in Liverpool attending a course on diversity and inclusion. The teachers are just amazing; they prepared all the material for us and the classes were dynamic, accurate in terms of content, and the methodology was very interactive, fostering students’ participation. Andie, Lulu, and Lorie are engaging and supportive teachers that made us feel at home, and they have taught us many meaningful techniques. Thanks so much. It's the best English course I have ever been to, I'm from Colombia, I wasn't used to speaking or hearing English but here I learned and now I'm very good at English.

My cousin Iacopo and my friend Betti learnt English here. It's crazy how they have improved in only two months. Fantastic. Big thank you to the teachers but nothing would have happened if not for Simone, he used to run this business few years ago and thanks to him and his suggestion now we are all ready to go to travel in the US. You rock !!

I was a student here in Lila in the sixth form college for one term and I have to say the approach of the teachers, the community, and the level of education is all worth a 5 star review. I have made some amazing memories here that will last me a lifetime while also enhancing my English speaking skills and studying subjects that I enjoy. They offer a friendly but professional atmosphere where anyone can find their place. This was truly an amazing experience which everyone deserves to have one day!!!

I enjoyed LILA* very much. Faye and Freya were really helpful and so were my teachers, Antia, Peter, Laurie, Proud, Andy and Patrick.

The school is located in the city centre, has a stylish design and spacious rooms, as well as a place where students can relax, play table tennis or board games.

I have achieved my CELTA certificate with the help of my trainers Kieran and Andy in this school. The trainers are all supportive and kind, thanks to everyone!

I liked the experience in Liverpool and the course at Lila school.The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the lessons helped me to improve my English skills,even if I expected to find adults( thirty years old and over) as schoolmates and not bachillerate students.

The classes are interesting, the activities are great and the staff is very nice. I recommend this school !

I was at language school for 2 weeks. It was a really fun, nice and cool time. I have really improved my English. The language school works with a company called “Daytripper Liverpool”. That's really cool because they work together to plan day trips that aren't that expensive and really interesting. One of my best memories of the 2 weeks was a trip to Slowdonia. In addition, the school times are perfectly fine. You learn with many different cultures and learn English together. There are different levels to help you develop your English perfectly. There are lots of activities including you can play table tennis during the break and sometimes there are some snacks like waffles with chocolate, strawberries and banana which are really good. We also did a photo competition and took photos of Liverpool and chose which one was the best. In the end we have a winner. That was a cool activity you did at school.

All in all, I can only say that the 2 weeks were an exciting, varied and fun experience. I learned a lot and am very grateful that I was able to be here.

I didn't expect to have so much fun while studying! The 2.5h break is a little too long, but no point to subtract a star.

The language school was a great experience for me here in Liverpool because it is not only about learning the language but also about the afternoon activities. In addition, you are welcomed every morning by the nice Freya.

My stay at Lila School was a great experience. It was a great experience for my kids. The LILA team is kind and attentive and they're always willing to help and solve any problems or concerns you may have.

The organization of the program was very good, you can tell that they really put their effort to make things work.

Since the beginning I felt at home. The staff couldn’t be more welcoming and caring. Specially Katie, our tour guide, she makes everyone feel comfortable and taken care of.

It’s noticiable that the teachers are experienced professionals who understand our differences as we are all from really different backgrounds. No matter your nationality, race or sexuality, you’ll be welcome as a family member.

I’d recommend this school to literally anyone, if you are having doubts, don’t think twice!!

Lila is a great school to foreigner improve English, meet new people and spend a good time in Liverpool. The have good teachers and infrastructure to give great classes.

The staff and teacher were absolutely amazing and very kind people. You feel comfortable from the very beginning on. Everyone here is very open, helpful and understanding. I loved my time here and would recommend it to everyone!

Since it has been my third time at Lila, I can only be grateful for everything that I’ve learnt and all the useful lessons I’ve been given here. Lila really is a good academy to achieve your goals regarding the English language.

I spent a wonderful month in Liverpool at the Lila English school. It is an experience I highly recommend. Liverpool is a beautiful city, perfect for a study stay. The Lila school is located in the city centre, very close to bars, restaurants, shops and the city's main attractions. The classes are really interesting and the teachers are well qualified. I personally attended the C1 level General English class and the Ielts exam preparation classes. I would especially like to mention teachers Jack, David and Laurie, they are really good and engaging. The staff is very helpful, kind and friendly. The environment in the school is multicultural and inclusive. I also had a very good time in the Benson Yard accomodation, it is a brand new and well equipped facility at a reasonable price.

I strongly recommend Lila to everyone!

i was there years ago. i remember it being great fun. its a big school with a lot of classes. so they devide it into groupclasses in the morning or afternoon. afternoon classes are perfect for those who like to sleep in. if you prefer morning classes i would announce it in advance in order to make sure you get your preferences met.

Got to know the staff and teachers while accompanying our class at LILA. Absolutely amazing atmosphere, lovely people who know what they're doing, always there for you if you have any questions about school or sightseeing activities. Thanks a lot for giving our students the opportunity to study at your school and to get to know the English culture by staying at host families. Very important is feel a security sense, in a new country with a lot of activities for discovering, which it´s possible through supervised activities.

My experience with Lila was very good. Liverpool wasn't my first choice of destination, but I was surprised with the level of structure and teaching at Lila, considering its costs (in comparison to other destinations).

The teachers (Andy, Jack, and David) were friendly and helpful. They really know how to make us involved in class and participate. The infrastructure was also very good, especially compared to the other schools in Liverpool.

In terms of location, it's great too. Shops, food (cheap or good restaurants), transport, accommodations, etc, everything you need will be found near Lila.

The accommodation which I was allocated to was also great, and the school made effort so I was happy with it.

I would also like to send compliments to Jim and the whole office staff, who supported me and made it an unforgettable experience.

The downside were the activities. It's not enough advertised among the students (like, one staff member could go around the classes to offer it / adverrise it, or make a whatsapp group to mention interesting activities, etc...). That lead to some empty activity groups (such as a sports day with only 2 people). A friend also said that there was no staff to go along the group in their trip to Anfield.

So I think the activities part could be better advertised and get some more atrention, as it's important to practice and help students socialize (lot's of shy people, and even more groups that only speak in their own language with their countrymen, closed groups that are always together). I'm very social, but I didn't make a lot of foreign friends at Lila, as foreigners arent as open to new friendships as brazilians... I think with some sports or activities it could've been different 😅.

But this didn't ruin my experience. I believe Lila will keep growing, and I fully support people to choose Lila.

We have signed up to be a host family with Lila Liverpool and have found the process very simple and Alex, the member of staff we dealt with, has been very helpful and knowledgeable. We look forward to welcoming foreign students into our home.

It's is perfect place to learn English, communicate with international students and best ever teachers. Just come and enjoy!✨

ı have studied for a month at LILA.I will be studying English at LILA until 13th August 2023 . I want to tell about my experiences.I have met a lot of English teachers , usually I haven't liked them . But my teachers are really great at LILA school.Jack is the best IELTS teacher I have seen all my life. He has different methods to teach us.Her class really funny and instructive.I also have another lovely teacher who always helps me is Jamie. He is fantastic and helpful teacher.Even if I ask the most difficult questions, they can easily explain it clearly.I am delighted with my teachers. Staff is over polite and friendly..Whatever you want to ask them ,you can ask them .Fayee and Jake are really cheerfull and polite.When I cheat with them , I really enjoy :) They always want to help you.I don't like social program very much , but I hope they will improve it .The school location is centere of Liverpool. as a result , I recommend anyone and everyone to study at LILA :))
