Tandem School is everything you would want in a Spanish program - the instructors are compassionate and patient. They listen to what you want to learn and adjust their program accordingly. The excursions that were arranged through Tandem were amazing and all of the guides were exceptionally knowledgeable and interesting. In particular, Sonia, the art guide, is so interesting and enthusiastic about the subjects and narrowed down our art tours so they captured the essence of each place we visited. Alessandro was also very knowledgeable about the subjects and explained everything incredibly clearly. Augusto knows the city of Madrid inside and out and answered all our questions with a deep understanding of the topics. Reme, my instructor, could not be more kind, understanding and a patient and excellent teacher. I grew so fond of her, I consider her a friend. I could not recommend this school more for any program that is offered!

Amazing learning experience at TANDEM 💫

Starting with an A1 level, and reaching B2.2 within just months has been such an incredible journey.

In the intensive Spanish lessons, I learned not only the language itself, but also the culture and history of Spain. Every week there are activities which all students can enjoy, and I’ve met so many interesting people along the way.

I had the pleasure of spending a week at Tandem Language School in Madrid, and it was an incredibly enriching experience. From the very beginning, the organization was seamless – the friendly and efficient email communication made everything easy and welcoming. A special thanks to Emil, who coordinated everything perfectly and ensured that my experience at the school ran smoothly.

A particular highlight of my week was learning with María Jesús and Natalia, my Spanish teachers, whose endless patience and genuine warmth made studying not only effective but truly enjoyable. Their engaging teaching style, deep knowledge, and encouraging approach helped me feel more confident in my Spanish skills. They adapted to my learning pace with great sensitivity and always took the time to explain even the trickiest aspects of the language with clarity and humor.

Beyond the language itself, I also gained fascinating insights into Spanish culture. Through our lessons and conversations, I learned so much about Spain’s traditions, daily life, and even the nuances of Spanish humor. On top of that, I received fantastic recommendations for exploring Madrid—whether it was cultural highlights, culinary gems, or simply understanding the Spanish way of life a little better. These local tips made my stay in the city even more enjoyable.

The school itself provides a fantastic environment for language learning, and the overall experience was both professional and personal. I wholeheartedly recommend Tandem Madrid to anyone looking for high-quality Spanish instruction in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

I took four weeks of A1 classes at Tandem and had a fantastic time. Before Tandem I was teaching myself Spanish, but lacked the foundation of a formal classroom. Tandem gave me exactly the foundation I was missing. The curriculum was well-structured, making it easy to understand and apply new concepts. The teachers created a great environment that fostered learning in every class. I left each class feeling more confident in my ability to communicate in Spanish, and I truly appreciated the progress I made in just a month. Would love to come back in the future!

I spent two weeks with Tandem Madrid and improved my Spanish considerably during that time. I liked the teachers and the initial language assessment as well. The atmosphere is easy-going and the teaching-methods are fresh and fun. A coffee place is around the corner. The city centre of Madrid is also exciting to explore. Definitely a great opportunity for a language holiday! :-)

The best decision you'll make is going to Tandem to learn Spanish. I attended Tandem for three months and they were the best three months. Specifically, I did the standard intensive Spanish course (9:30am-1pm) daily, and it's just the right amount of time daily for all that you learn to sink in. It's intensive for a reason, but you will exponentially improve your level. The cultural activities that are offered outside of lesson times are so vast and are, in my opinion, the best ways to learn Spanish (outside a textbook). The cultural activities include, but definitely aren't limited to, going to the cinema, street art tours, wine tasting, flamenco shows, weekend day trips to Toledo/ Segovia, etc! And geographically, Tandem is located right by Banco de España, so it's so close to the centre with everything you need to close. Special shout outs to Francisco, Laura M, Reme, Susana and Emil!

My name is Simon Høffding and I've been a student for 3 months at the B2 level with Raquel.

As associate professor at the University of Southern Denmark, I know a good teacher when I see one. Raquel is faced with the double pedagogical challenge of not only teaching evening classes to mature students, who've been to work all day, but also of having new students come almost every week, making a continued didactic plan near impossible. Yet, we all learn a lot in Raquel's classes. She is excellent in relating to each of her students and in invigorating us to push for developing a constantly more sophisticated Spanish. Deftly mixing teaching formats, between grammatical instruction, class conversation, pair-work and short musical works or video-clips, she is eager at making us talk and write gently correcting our language. We're having a great time, learning and laughing a lot and I couldn't have asked for a kinder and more competent teacher.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tandem if you're in Madrid and want to learn Spanish.

During my stay in Madrid I decided to learn some Spanish. Tandem was a perfect choice. The location was great, class sizes were small, very interactive and the personal tutoring was very tailored to an individuals strength. The professors were amazing. I took intensive Spanish classes at Tandem for 12 weeks in 2022. I found the teachers and the staff extremely responsive and helpful. The quality of instruction is very good, and I learned a lot of Spanish, increasing my ability to read, listen, and speak. Would take classes here again!

Tandem is an amazing school with so much to offer! I studied abroad here and absolutely loved it. The classes are well organized and interesting. I have grown so much and my grammar has improved drastically. I also took a history and current events class which I loved and every week there was always something new to look forward to.
