I studied at Don Quijote for about 8 weeks and went from beginner to level B1 (basic conversations in past, present and future). This achievement was thanks to the brilliant staff and a great learning process at Don Quijote!! Pedro and Ara are enormously accommodating and the teaching staff, Kepa, Marisa, Paloma, Albert and all the others, are world class and come with great experience.

I took a combination of group... I studied at Don Quijote for about 8 weeks and went from beginner to level B1 (basic conversations in past, present and future). This achievement was thanks to the brilliant staff and a great learning process at Don Quijote!! Pedro and Ara are enormously accommodating and the teaching staff, Kepa, Marisa, Paloma, Albert and all the others, are world class and come with great experience.

I took a combination of group classes (4 hours in the morning) and private classes in the afternoon. It worked best for my schedule and gave me the intense learning experience that i was looking for.

Thank you everyone at Don Quijote!! I’ll miss you. Abrazos

I have used Don Quijote Academy in Madrid and I had a great experience, with courses at a high level and excellent teachers.
I have been back to Don Quijote in Madrid to take a DELE exam recently and I was pleased with the good organization and pleasant evaluators.
I definetely recommend Don Quijote Academy for those looking for a good course in Spain.

The teachers are excellent. The classes are fun since the students have diverse backgrounds with all ages. It’s situated centrally. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay of 6 weeks at DonQuijote! So much that I decided to come back after 3 weeks and continue for 2 and a half months more.

Absolutely enjoyed a three week Spanish course at Don Quijote in Madrid. Fun and skilled teachers and a whole diversity of students. I went to Don Quijote with 11 friends from school and two teachers of mine. Our Spanish teacher was there with us too. We were there for a week and attended lessons for five days. It was a really fun and educating experience. The teachers at Don Quijote were really good ones, if we couldn’t understand something they made sure to make it clearer. Also in speaking lessons we have met with people from other countries such as... I went to Don Quijote with 11 friends from school and two teachers of mine. Our Spanish teacher was there with us too. We were there for a week and attended lessons for five days. It was a really fun and educating experience. The teachers at Don Quijote were really good ones, if we couldn’t understand something they made sure to make it clearer. Also in speaking lessons we have met with people from other countries such as Netherlands, Italy and The UAE. The dormitories were quite comfortable too, we always had some delicious meals prepared for us.

La mejor escuela para aprender español en Madrid! I have now spent 3 wonderful months at this school, and my Spanish has progressed immensely. I had a decent level of Spanish before I came and now I can proudly say that I feel comfortable to take on any Spanish speaker in the world and have a full and logical conversation with them where I’m easily able to express my myself. A special thank you to professors Marissa, Eva, Sergio and... La mejor escuela para aprender español en Madrid! I have now spent 3 wonderful months at this school, and my Spanish has progressed immensely. Great experience! Super informative, teachers really enthusiastic and make the classes really enjoyable. Only went for a week, but emerged with a much stronger foundation of Spanish. I love how the classes are organized, and the opportunity to interact with different professors throughout the day makes the 5 hours of learning and practicing Spanish fly by. Kudos to Eva, Virginia, Sergio R, Sergio, Alberto... I've learned a lot, improved my language skills, and enjoy being in the school benches again because they make it easy and fun. This is a wonderful school in a great setting. I have attended for one or two weeks every year for a number of years. The teachers are outstanding, I have found them to be knowledgeable and flexible with different levels of learning. Very patient with all personality types. If I were only reviewing the classes, I’d give five stars without a doubt. The teachers are amazing and despite only being here for two weeks, I feel like I learned a lot!
With regards to accommodation, I booked a single room in a shared apartment offered by the Academy, and I’m not sure I would do that again if I were to return to the academy. The apartment had a lot of... Classes: 5 stars

With regards to accommodation, I booked a single room in a shared apartment offered by the Academy, and I’m not sure I would do that again if I were to return to the academy. The apartment had a lot of defects, and it was also much more expensive than other (long-term) accommodation options in Madrid. I strongly believe that there’s cheaper options of better quality out there, especially if you’re staying for a longer period (1 month +).
All in all, I’d like to highlight that I highly recommend taking classes at Don Quijote, no matter whether you can only stay for a week or for months!

The location and quality of the building and classrooms is very good. However there is very little social atmosphere or sense of enjoyment by students. The school does not appear to regularly organise outings or dinners to bring students and teachers together to socialise. My homestay accomodation was not a pleasant experience because the woman I was living with was a very cranky person and definitely not suitable to host students.... I was very lucky with my teachers, Paloma and Amanda, we were only three students, so I could improve a lot. The oral classes in the afternoon should be organised in another way. Two levels were mixed (A1/A2).

In the afternoon/in the evening/at the weekend the school did not offer any activities. It was very tough to meet other people. This school is located in the city center, it is a beautiful building.

I withhold my recommendation of this school and advise others to read all the reviews with healthy criticism.

My primary complaint with this school is the obvious disregard for your proper placement in a level of Spanish class. I was placed in a class with the majority of students who had a greater capability in speaking Spanish so the professor accommodated that higher level for the other students. I was continuously... My primary complaint with this school is the obvious disregard for your proper placement in a level of Spanish class. I was placed in a class with the majority of students who had a greater capability in speaking Spanish so the professor accommodated that higher level for the other students. I was continuously left behind in understanding and became increasingly frustrated. I became a dead-weight on the other students, that is neither fair nor correct. It is bad a pedagogy.

The professors were very nice but failed to provide a preparation list of new words to learn and did not slow down AT ALL to explain context. As others have said, the text book is used very, very quickly if at all. Don Quijote seems just wanting to gouge you for 45€ There is no linear process in the teaching which makes for terrible confusion and frustration. That is not good pedagogy.

I was told to wait for after the first day because it is "normal". Also, I was told that if I moved class, I would waste another day taking a test. That is not language instruction, that is test taking.

It not normal to waste 1/5 of your experience because Don Quijote failed to do proper placement. When I made mention to the office manager Pedro he attempted to blame me for doing well on the placement test even though I told them I can understand the gist of Spanish but need serious help in speaking Spanish.
The conversation class (which is extra € of course) was less conversation but more ask and tell. There were too many people in the class to have successful dialogue skills.

Don Quijote seems to be a business scheme, one that works aggressively to sell you a product then fails to deliver properly. I am a retired professional and have experienced quality educational programming and content in my career.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic I will not be able to attend the school but have still had a unique experience none the less. I write this as a warning to other looking into traveling abroad and wanting to gain a grip of the culture of the world - beware of this school and its little willingness to work with you. As I am sure all of us have felt in these uncertain times, the global situation of the world has been continuously... Due to the ongoing global pandemic I will not be able to attend the school but have still had a unique experience none the less. I write this as a warning to other looking into traveling abroad and wanting to gain a grip of the culture of the world - beware of this school and its little willingness to work with you. As I am sure all of us have felt in these uncertain times, the global situation of the world has been continuously changing from week to week, if not from day to day. While being in talks with the school for the past few weeks, mainly due to an email response coming to me once a week if I am lucky, the school has been unwilling to refund me the full amount I paid in tuition because for some uncertain reasoning its policies never updated with the time. While it is true the school offered to hold my money to let me use it for a later time as well as take online courses, these so called 'options' appear to only benefit its money eccentric approach. Seeing how I am being treated through emails makes me glad I will not be attending this school if this is the manner in which students are treated

The school is decently organized, the teachers are nice and competent and the materials and excercises are well done. If you need more time to grasp concepts and want a slower environment, or are looking for a chill time - this school is for you. But if you're looking to advance your Spanish with intense classes and are used to fast-paced environments (and enjoy them) this school is not it. I did not enjoy my time here and feel like... Unfortunately, I would have learned more taking 4 hours a day of my usual online classes than here - while spending less money. I believe this isn't everyone's experience, but it was mine and I'm disappointed in how little interest was shown to provide a good experience to everyone.

The experience with this school is horrible and I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR ANYONE!

Starting from the communication after the payment is made finishing up with the whole learning system - it is not worth it at all!

The course counselling was super helpful, but once the payment was made I have not received any clear communication, had to ask for the same questions million times, was not informed neither about the level of my Spanish UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE, neither of the reduction of my class, nor did I receive the book prior to the class. Instead of sorting these issues fast, it was almost implied from the coordinators that it was my fault of not receiving any of this.

The teacher was trying to make up for it by being extra sweet, but since the class was reduced, there was no special adaptation to teaching the course - exercises were for a group and I had nobody to practice nor discuss new material with except the teacher.

Let's also talk about the whole system of booking THAT MAKES NO SENSE. The school forces you to make the payment 2 weeks prior the start of INTENSIVE COURSE, without making sure that there will be a group interested in this course. If there's not enough people, they reduce the class for 50%. So my INTENSIVE COURSE of 4 weeks and 8 classes in total has with 1.5 hour has been reduced to 4 classes per month. This sounds nothing like INTENSIVE COURSE and I doubt I will improve my Spanish at all during this time, I won't even have any opportunity to practice what I am learning since there are no students learning with me.

Instead of making sure that there will be students in the course, the school makes you pay for the course that they won't be able to provide with the quality and proper standards, the reduced hours are not adapted for the individual approach, I am receiving the book during the class, not even prior to it to prepare any questions and make these 4 "INTENSIVE" classes worth the pay. I paid 300 eur for 4 classes...

THIS IS SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE AND DECEPTIONAL, THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF STUDYING A LANGUAGE IN MY LIFE.

I have been trying for over two weeks to get a refund for the horrible accommodations they wanted to place my daughter in!!! I paid in full for a room she is not using because it is 100 degrees in Madrid and you have no air conditioning in the school or the rooms! I had to pay more money to get her accommodations. So I’m paying twice!! Also there is no flamenco classes and I also excepted a refund for that! Now I have paid for... They can’t make phone calls, so you have to wait until they email you. They just take your money and run. They are crooks.

We were very disappointed with nearly all aspects of the program, with one exception: the additional private lessons we had booked. Our son liked his private lessons very much and found them useful. His regular classroom teacher was nice, but the classes weren't useful because he was placed in a level that was too low, and the class duplicated his IB Spanish class that he had already taken. There were many other problems: 1. We paid... We were very disappointed with nearly all aspects of the program, with one exception: the additional private lessons we had booked. There were many other problems: 1. We paid 89 euros to have him picked up at the airport, and the pickup service never showed up. He had to pay extra to take a cab. 2. His hostess didn't talk with my son at all. She put his food in front of him and then retreated into her room to watch TV. We had asked to have him with a host family so he could practice his Spanish, as advertised on the website. He didn't get to do this at all. She also served very poor-quality food (frozen food that wasn't heated enough), and there wasn't enough food. 3. We were told by the salesperson on the website that everyone in the program would be about our son's age (18), but in fact he was the only teenager in a group of 30-year-old businesspeople. We were very disappointed with our experiences with Don Quijote and would warn against them.
