About Expanish
Expanish Málaga teaches Spanish from a compact school in the city's historic centre, a short walk from the beach and the tapas bars of Andalusia. Founded in 2010, it has built a boutique, family-like atmosphere, with large windows looking out over one of Málaga's central squares.
With only six classrooms and an average class size of nine students, lessons stay personal. Weekly cultural activities run alongside the lessons, and the school is accredited by Instituto Cervantes, IALC and SIELE.

Your first day at Expanish
Your placement test happens online before you travel, combining written questions with a short spoken conversation, so the school already has a good idea of your level. On your first morning in Málaga, staff confirm your exact timetable once they can match that level against the classes running that week. Bring something to write with. The course book and any supplementary materials are bought at the school itself rather than sent in advance. Once lessons wrap up, the welcome walk and drink after class is your first proper chance to meet other students.

What you do outside class at Expanish
Your course includes four free activities every week, on top of the morning lessons. A typical week brings a museum visit, a churros tasting and a wine tasting at El Pimpi, plus a coastal walk; some weeks add flamenco or a cooking class, and a weekend trip is offered as an optional extra. Activities run as planned even when only a few students sign up.

What classes are like at Expanish
Lessons follow a communicative, student-centred approach that gets you speaking Spanish from your first class. Grammar, listening, conversation and writing are combined with real-life practice around the city. Classes stay small, averaging nine students and never rising above twelve. The core morning timetable runs Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 1:20pm, split into 50-minute lessons; conversation classes, Spanish in the City sessions and private lessons take place in the afternoon, and an evening class runs from 7 to 9pm.Your level is checked with an online test before you arrive, backed up by an oral conversation and confirmed on your first morning, so you join a group that matches how you actually speak and understand Spanish. Courses cover every level, from complete beginners (A1) through to advanced (C2).

- A €50 administration fee for course changes, €650 for internship placements, and €100 for accommodation changes after initial enrollment confirmation.
- Changes must be requested at least two weeks prior to the intended change.
- Postponements within two weeks of the start date are treated as cancellations.
- Housing changes incur a €100 fee and are subject to availability, with no refunds for price differences.
- Substituting services (like courses for internships) is not allowed and treated as cancellations.
Medical/Personal Absences:
- Absences for personal or medical reasons are considered cancellations; lessons will not be postponed or refunded unless supported by an official medical certificate.
Course Cancellations:
- Full refund (minus non-refundable fees) for cancellations made 14 days or more before the program start.
- Cancellations less than 14 days before start date incur a fee equivalent to one week of tuition plus non-refundable charges.
- No refund for cancellations on or after the start date.
Course Cancellations With Student Visa:
- Cancellation requires returning the original certificate of studies and a signed cancellation intent document.
- With an official visa denial, refunds are processed as follows:
- More than 15 days before start: full course value minus €250 cancellation fee.
- 15 days or less before start: full course value minus 25% of total amount paid.
- No refunds for cancellations on or after the start date, regardless of the student's arrival in Spain.
- No refund without an official visa denial document.
- Courier fees are always non-refundable.
Changes to Enrollment:

- Cancellations 14 days or more before the program start: Refund minus a cancellation fee equivalent to one week of housing.
- Cancellations 13 days or less before the start: No refunds.
Non-Expanish Accommodation:
- Independent accommodations such as student residences, hostels, hotels, and private apartments have their own cancellation policies.
- Expanish will provide the specific booking terms and cancellation policies upon booking confirmation.
