Azurlingua Reviews
Good
Azurlingua
Azurlingua scores excellent on the following categories:
- Teachers: 4.8
- Lesson quality: 4.8
My two children took part in a two-week language course with Azurlingua in July/August 2025. My 16-year-old daughter opted for an intensive course and a host family, while my 15-year-old son chose the standard junior course and stayed at the Lycée Les Eucalyptus. During the first week, he also took a diving course in the afternoons. Both of them thoroughly enjoyed their time in Nice. The course was the perfect mix of school and free time. They were free to organise their spare time as they wished. As a result, they often went to the beach, into town and also to neighbouring towns such as Monaco and Cannes. The group in the junior course was very international, which my son really liked. The school focused primarily on speaking, where both made great progress. After one week, my son was even able to move up to level B1/B2, where he was challenged. The language course was a complete success and my daughter will be going back for another two weeks in autumn.
Positives: Romain sent my daughter...
My 16 yr old daughter studied at Azurlingua in Nice for two weeks in July/August 2024. She had a single room at Jean Medicin and was very happy that she did not decide to share. She had two private lessons a day, M T Th and Fri.
Positives: Romain sent my daughter a text as soon as she arrived at 10:30pm, telling her that he was waiting to drive her to the school.
My daughter thought that the lessons were good, particularly her private lessons, although it was hard to have 3 hours of lessons. It is particularly hard to find a school like Azurlingua that offers private lessons. When she asked to change group lessons so she could focus on speaking rather than writing, the school was very accommodating.
The school also picked the children up in the morning and brought them to school on a coach to ensure they had breakfast and got to class ontime.
The school is strict about curfews for younger children and ensuring that children sleep in their assigned bedroom.
My daughter made good friends from several different countries and had a fabulous time going all over the place. The school food was reasonable. When my daughter became unwell with a foot infection, I called the reservation number and someone at the school took her to the Emergency Room at the local hospital and waited with her.
Negatives: They do not change the sheets before new children arrive on a Sunday, so new children are forced to sleep on dirty sheets for a couple of days before housekeeping changes the sheets. Your child should demand new sheets upon arrival; mine did not.
Although air conditioning was stated in the brochure, my daughter's room at Jean Medicin did not even have a fan. She woke up every night sopping wet and drenched in sweat. The school said that they ran out of fans, but I think this is normal. There are also so many mosquitoes at night, so keeping the windows open is not an option.
A very long extension cord is necessary as there is only one outlet in the entire room near the bathroom and it is high up. Also, the floor is always damp from humidity, so you do not want to leave anything electrical charging on the floor.
There is zero supervision in the afternoons after class. On Life360 I often saw my daughter out in various cities along the coast late at night as I allowed a 12:30am curfew. I thought that there would be activities and the school would take them places. One night she and some friends got stuck in Antibes and their phones were almost dead. They called the school and the person who answered just told them to call an Uber. They were offered no help.
The school is not far (7 minute drive) from an extremely bad area (Les Moulins). But I have not heard of a child at the school being injured.
The emergency number provided to parents is fake. Nobody ever answers.
All in all, I would recommend the school as long as parents are aware. I doubt any other schools are better. In some ways, it was a life changing experience for my daughter and I believe she will forever keep the friends and memories that she made.
