Elegant buildings, large private mansions, stately boulevards, bowery streets and beautiful sandy beaches: that is the stylish metropolis Montpellier. Montpellier is also the fastest growing city in France and one of the most multicultural cities. The historic old town has a medieval character. Go here to wander around between the historical, architectural delights and cozy bistros. Looking for a quiet place to study? The oldest botanical garden in France, the ‘Jardin des plantes’, is located in Montpellier and offers an oasis of peace during busy days of study. More than a third of the population in Montpellier is formed by students and they give a lively atmosphere to the day- and night life here. Because the city directly borders the Mediterranean Sea, you can alternate bustling city activities with relaxed beach days during your language course.

I had an amazing experience even with the current pandemic. I got to meet people from all around the world, got to learn a lot of french, and got to travel the country as well. The school is very well situated, the content taught is concrete and useful. A great overall experience. |

I participated in a B1 online course with ILA and can highly recommend doing so. On top of all the regular things that we did, there's a new grammar session every day, a written submission every Tuesday and a dedicated oral exercise every Thursday. Therefore, the learning curve is truly steep. |

Had an excellent experience. Smaller classes because of coronavirus but very well enforced safety measures throughout the school. Loved my 2 weeks. Superb teaching - must mention the excellent Cyprien. Will return. |

One of the most exciting things I have done: to step out of my comfort zone, live in a different city by myself and learn a language as an absolute beginner. The teachers were the best! Highly skilled and qualified. The classrooms are small and fellow students were of varying ages and from different parts of the world. There's usually 2 or 3 extra curricular activities including a guided tour to a nearby province in the weekend. Situated in the historical part of the city you really are in the heart of Montpellier. which is full of students and history. |

I spent more than a year with ILA and feel it is an exceptional language school. First, the quality of the teaching is superb. All of the teachers have a minimum of a masters in language education and are native speakers. Over my long stay I have had most of them and they are all fabulous- great teachers and also friendly and approachable. They taught us not only the language but also important cultural norms and French historical events. The program includes lots of opportunities to socialize and there is also an option for very well organized excursions on weekends. It can be very social especially for younger students. They were also quite flexible with me as I stayed a year but my travel plans during the year were variable. The administration also seemed to try to place students of similar ages or age groups together as well as of similar skill level. This helps people to socialize outside of class. Finally, I took the DALF preparation course with ILA and passed with ease- the only French I had was during that year and I only took a total of 8 months of classes. Initially I stayed with a host family organized through the school and they were wonderful. I moved to an apartment after I got settled but I still see them for dinner weekly and they really helped me transition. In short, Montpellier is amazing, the school is very professional, and anyone from a high school student to a retired person will love the program. |
