Learn Italian at Europass
Europass is an Italian language school in the historic center of Florence. 25 years ago the school was founded by a number of teachers because they wanted to have their own place where they could be hospitable, open and a place where it was easy to make contact with others and learn new things. Sixty percent of Europass students are complete beginners and yet the school has one sacred rule which shouldn’t scare you off: from the very beginning, the teachers only try to speak Italian to the students. The school says: "From experience we know that it works and it helps students to learn Italian quickly. Everyone is involved and should try to speak as much as possible without having to worry about making mistakes." The school often organizes games, film clubs and discussion evenings to improve language skills. On the school trips you discover new places, new flavors and new smells while you practice your Italian. The school building is perhaps one of the finest in the center of Florence, called Palazzo Galletti, a neoclassical building from 1831, designed by the architects Vittorio Bellini and Antonio Catelani. It is a few steps from Florence Cathedral and Piazza Santa Croce square. The medium-sized school has 11 classrooms, a lounge and a private roof terrace.

I enjoyed the standard language course with Enzo for four weeks and couldn’t have wished for more. What I was aiming for was of course practicing speaking and conversation management which was the biggest part of the course.
They also offer trips and guided visits to museums and walking tours through the city with some of their teachers who have studied history of arts.
Apart from the fact that the building is simply beautiful, with a wonderful courtyard and balconies, the service by everybody working there is great.
I would advise anybody who wants to do an intensive course to first only book the standard course and then add extra lessons when you’ve already started the course at the language school since they need enough students to participate to be able to offer the lessons which you book in the intensive court.
Teachers like Enzo, Stefano, Domenica and Francesca are great- they not only explained the gramma and the rules of Italian language but also shared with me the sickest of Italian culture, history, habits and... I had great two weeks- very intensive and very fruitful.
