Extralingo is a booking platform that makes it easier to find, compare and book your language trip.

Is Extralingo free to use?

 Extralingo is totally free to use, you only pay the costs of your language trip that the school is asking for.

I want to make a booking for more than 1 person, is that possible?

Thats not a problem, please contact Extralingo and we will arrange your group booking.

I am in contact with the school and they offer me other prices, what should I do?

As Extralingo our promise is that we offer you the lowest price and the same options as the schools are offering. So if you happen to find a lower price for the same trip at another agent, feel free to contact us. 

I found other prices and options on another website/agent, what now?

As Extralingo our promise is to offer you the lowest price for all the languagetrips on our platform. So if you happen to find a lower price for the same trip at another agent, feel free to contact us.

How do I delete my Extralingo profile?

We're sorry to hear this. Please send us an email and we will delete your account from Extralingo. 

School

What do I have to bring with me?

This depends on the school, on a schools personal page you’ll find the utensils the school expect you to bring. Most of the times you need nothing more then writing stationery. The books and study material will usually be arranged by the school. A laptop is often not necessary, but might be handy. 

Per accommodation it depends what stuff you need to bring. Two weeks before departure you’ll receive an email with all the necessary information you need to know about your trip and the belongings you need to bring with you.

Are there any school activities next to the course?

This differs per school. On a schools private page you can see the free activities a school organizes.

Is the school closed on national holidays?

This differs per school. On a schools private page you can see what days a school is closed or open.

What do you do on the first day of class?

This depends on the school. Usually you make a test to see what level you’re in, after which everybody will be divided in classes and the first lessons start.

Language course

What time does the first course of the day start?

This depends on the school. Most of the times when the school offers a morning course, the course starts around 9 am. After your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with detailed information about your booked course and the school. Within this email you’ll also find the start times of the course.

When will l get to know my class schedule?

After your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with detailed information on your booked course and the school. Within this email you’ll also find your course schedule.

Is their any age limit?

Yes, sometimes there is, this depends per school. You can find age limit per course or school on the schools page.

How will my language level be determined?

Usually, you’ll make a test on the first day of your course. This way the school can determine your language level. Depending on the outcomes of this test the school places you in a class that matches your level. Can I get any official certification?

When you finished a language course you most of the times receive a certification of completion signed by the school. However this isn’t an official certificate. If you want an official certificate you can consider doing a DELE or SIELE preparation course, and a DELE exam afterwards. DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) and SIELE (Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua) are official titles certifying a certain degree of competence of the Spanish language, granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain. What does a certificate of the school mean?

When you book a language course most of the times you receive a certificate of completion signed by the school afterwards. But, this isn’t an official certificate. If you want an official certificate you can consider doing a DELE- or SIELE-exam. For more information, read: Why a DELE or SIELE course?

Can I take private classes?

At Extralingo you can book courses combined with private lessons. This courses are indicated as ‘... & Private’, so for example a course might be called ‘General course & private’ or ‘Intensive course & private’. However, this kind of courses also include a general course where you’ll be in classes with other students. It’s not yet possible to book only private lessons at Extralingo.

What happens if there are no students with the same level as I have?

This depends on the school. Usually you will be placed in a class one level below or above your own level and you will get some special attention from the teacher.

What is the maximum number of students per class?

This differs per school. Usually it’s between 8 and 12 students per class. On a schools private page you can see the maximum number of students a specific school manages.

Accommodation

Are bed linen and towels included?

Bed linnen are most of the times included in the accommodation, towels mostly not. Directly after you paid your booking you’ll receive an email with a packing list with stuff you have to bring yourself.

How far from the school is the accommodation?

This of course depends on the school and the kind of accommodation you booked. After your booking the school will find you a room or apartment that matches your booking. After your booking is confirmed you’ll receive an email with detailed information about your booked accommodation and the school.

What’s included in half board?

Half board means you’ll be provided with breakfast and dinner. So when you booked half board,  you should take care of your own lunch.

What’s included in full board?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner. So when you booked full board,  your main meals are taken care of.

I don’t know which accommodation type to chose, can you help?

What accommodation suits you best, depends on your personal needs and wishes. If your main goal is to learn a language as fast and good as possible, we recommend you to book a homestay. Living and chatting with a local family on a daily base will increase your language-level the fastest. However, is your main goal to enjoy some free time in the city next to your language course, have some parties and do whatever you feel like? Then we advise you to stay in a shared or private apartment.

What are the check in and check out times?

They depend per school and accommodation. After your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with detailed information on your booked accommodation. Check in and check out times are also included in this email.

What if I want to change my accommodations or course during my stay?

Be aware that once your booking is confirmed and paid for, a booked accommodation or course can’t be changed. However, if for some valid reason you do want to switch, please contact the school. If this doesn’t offer a solution, please contact Extralingo.

Do I have a schedule at a homestay?

Yes, the family you temporary live with will have set times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is something you have to take into account when you book a homestay.

Can I choose lunch instead of diner when I choose half board?

Half board most of the times includes breakfast and dinner. Some homestay have the option to switch to lunch, but this depends per homestay. If you don’t want to account for dinner; some homestays do offer only breakfast. If you don’t see the option ‘breakfast’ when you booking a specific homestay, this homestay doesn’t have this option.

How many students live at a host family?

This depends on the host family. However, you always book a single or double room at a homestay. So depending on that, you do have a private room, or share it with one other person.

I have a special diet, what to do?

When you are vegetarian, vegan or have other diet wishes you should mention this in the field of comments while booking. This way your diet can be taken into account by the one in charge at your accommodation. Sometimes you will be charged some extra money for special diets.

What is included in the price of a week in a student residence?

That depends on the school, you can find this on the school’s page.

Can I stay in the accommodation after I end my course?

Most accommodations offer the option to book ‘extra nights’. You’ll see this option during the booking process. However, often there’s a maximum amount of nights that you can book extra.

I am not happy with my accommodation, what to do?

If you are not satisfied with your accommodation please contact the school directly and elaborate your disappointment so you can come to a solution together.

Arrival

How do I get to the accommodation/school?

Often the schools offer a transfer service from the airport to the school. Of course, you’re also free to arrange the transport yourself. You can find the address of the school in your email and on the schools page.

Where will I find the person who will pick me up at the airport?

This depends on the school and the airport. Before you’re departure you’ll receive an email with detailed information about your pick up, including contact details of the school and the one picking you up.

Are there scheduled arrival/departure times for the airport transfers?

The airport transfers are arranged by the schools themselves. This means the times for the pick up are not fixed and depend on the school. Before your departure you’ll receive an email with detailed information about your pick up, including contact details of the school and the one picking you up.

Who can I contact when I have a problem with my arrival, like a delay or a cancelled flight?

This depends on the school and the airport. Before your departure you’ll receive an email with detailed information about your pick up, including contactdetails of the school and the one picking you up.

How can I find out the address of my accommodation and school?

The schools address you can find directly on the school’s personal page. This isn’t the case for the accommodation. Because the schools most of the time have different accommodations that they rent out and therefore have different addresses. When booking an accommodation you select the type of accommodation you wish (a shared flat for example), after which the school will find you an accommodation that matches your wishes. Two weeks before your language course starts you’ll receive an email with the address and more information about your accommodation. If for some reason, you’re not happy with your accommodation you can contact the school and find a solution together.

Where should I first go after I arrive on the airport?

This depends on the school. Usually you’ll first go to the school to pick up the key of your accommodation. However, sometimes you can go directly to your accommodation. Two days before your trip, you’ll receive an email with detailed information about your arrival, and where to go.

I can't find my booking, what is wrong?

That should not be the case, please take a look in your emails or log in to your Extralingo-account. Still can't find it? Please contact us.

The school's contact person is not responding, what should I do?

When do I have to pay the full booking amount?

6 weeks upfront you have to pay the full booking amount in order to confirm your booked languagetrip. In the emails you will receive from Extralingo as well as in your Extralingo-account you can see on which date you have to pay the full amount of your languagetrip. 

How can I check the status of my booking/reservation?

After you complete your booking you’ll receive an email with the status of your booking. During the booking process we will send you updates with the status quo. Besides this you can always check your booking status on our website by logging in and go to your personal page.

Payments

I have some questions regarding a payment, where to go?

All your payment details should be listed in your Extralingo account. Still have any questions, please contact us. 

I have paid my down payment, however after 48 hours I still didn’t receive a confirmation. What now?

This isn’t how it should be. Please contact us, and we’ll check what went wrong.

Which payment methods does Extralingo accept?

You can pay your booking at Extralingo with iDeal, Paypal and creditcard.

Insurance

Can I apply for a medical insurance at Extralingo?

No, Extralingo doesn’t offer this. So we highly recommend you to have a good insurance before departure.

Do I need medical insurance at Extralingo?

Yes, we highly recommend you to make sure you have a good travel insurance.

Can I apply for a travel insurance at Extralingo?

No, Extralingo doesn’t offer travel insurances. We highly recommend to make sure you insure yourself for unexpected damages and losses during your trip.

Can I apply for a cancellation insurance at Extralingo?

Yes, you can. A cancellation insurance will cost you around 6,68% of your total bookingprice + additional polis costs of €5,50. With a cancellation insurance you’ll get your money back in cases where you’re not able to begin or finish your language course because of valid, unforeseen circumstances. You can cancel your booking free of charge up to 6 weeks prior to the startdate. Less than six weeks, the following cancellation costs apply.

I want to cancel my trip, how do I do that?

Sorry to hear that, then we will try to find a solution for your cancellation. Up to 6 weeks prior to your arrival date you can get a full refund, excluding any insurances. After this, our cancellation fees apply, you can read more about this in our Terms and Conditions.

What does a cancellation insurance of Extralingo mean?

A cancellation insurance from Extralingo means that you can get a full refund back by cancellation. Your refund Is valid from the moment you booked your language trip untill the last day your trip starts. When you cancel during your trip you will get a refund pro ratio. For more info please read our cancellation policy

Complaints and disputes

If you have any complaints about our services, please get in touch via our contact form. Within 14 days after receipt of your complaint you will receive a substantive response. If you do not agree with our solution you can submit your complain to the complaint commission via the European ODR Platform. (https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/).

Our Language trips are excluded from revocation since they are performed on a specific date or period.

You can easily book your language trip at Extralingo. When you make a booking on Extralingo, you do not pay directly and your booking is not final but its a request. Thereupon we verify your request at the school. If available you will receive a confirmation and a paymentlink. Your booking is final when you pay the fully booking amount to Extralingo.
