Who thinks of Rome thinks of elegant squares, gaudy baroque fountains and of course the Coliseum, the pantheon and the showpiece of the Vatican: the St. Peter's Basilica. Quite an impressive list, right? It might be clear that almost no city can match the artistic and historical heritage that Rome has to offer. During a walk through the city you must try hard not to stumble over the masterpieces of the giants of Western art. There are sculptures by Michelangelo, fountains by Bernini, canvases by Caravaggio and frescoes by Raphael. This, combined with the dolce vita lifestyle that people embrace here, makes Rome one of the most romantic cities in the world.
What do you do on your day off when you follow a language course in Rome? You have breakfast with, of course, a cappuccino and sweet delicacy at an espresso bar. After that you wander through the picturesque streets on your way to a visit one of the many museums. Have you had your portion of culture? Then you go to the Campto de Fiori - the most famous market in Rome - to get yourself some fresh and local groceries. Afterwards you sit down at a terrace on one of the beautiful squares and you might go for a gelato with a shot of espresso. When the evening falls you go back to your apartment to cook a pasta al ragu for you and your fellow students with the groceries from the market. After dinner you end the day with a homemade tiramisu in a trattoria or you find yourself between all the dressed up Italians in a fancy cocktail bar.
